massimorocca
Title says all. I'm referring to the ATI Radeon or All in one, price comparable with the geforce Thanks Massimo
Schrullenhaft
I've used the ATI Radeon 32Mb DDR and it works fine except for one problem. ATI has never supported fog-tables properly under DirectX (it works fine in the Mac's RAVE API and probably OpenGL). Even with the latest BETAs and Registry tweakers there is no fog in CM. The Radeon isn't quite as fast as the GeForce family under DirectX, so moving around the battlefield may be a bit slower. ATI is coming out with newer versions of the Radeon family, so they may become a bit more competitive speed-wise with the GeForces. However, I'm under the impression that fog-tables will probably always be a problem with the ATI cards (under DirectX).
Krinks
I'm using an ATI Radeon 32mb card, and have encountered a number of problems with the card during various games. One problem I had with CMBO was that the menuse for unitss would flicker annoyingly, but a simple driver update corrected that problem. Another of the problems is the aforementioned fog tables not being supported. This, in itself, would not be much of a problem, but the card also seems to have trouble switching from 2d to 3d and some textures take a few moments to fill themselves in. I've noticed that particular problem while playing Black & White. Sometimes if I switch views there is a blurry texture for a moment before the proper texture fills in. This isn't to say that it's a BAD card... it's certainly good if you don't have a lot of money or are not a hardcore gamer, but there are much better cards out there.
Maximus
This is why I would not take an ATI card if GIVEN to me. Why does everybody discount Nvidia-based cards? They make the best cards out there. Both in image quality and in speed. ATI cards are good for about one thing. Video editing and TV-out. They really aren't made for 3D games.
