  1. 1) Area target (may be wide/short) for MG. Now they are pinpoint weapons firing till the target is dead. So no suppressive/killing fire from side to side against advancing men, the real use of MG. 2) Buttoned and unbuttoned tanks with related LOS degradation 3) random generator and/or easier battle design tools
  2. Question: what do you see when ordering waypoints? I've only the old little grey square. There is some new icon like the green square for the reverse? May be I need a fresh reinstall......
  3. Sorry fellas, but I don't understand how the waypoints works. shift plus W, or Shift plus right click, doesn't work for me. The units travel always straight toward the last spot on the map. Where is my fault?
  4. Bene, mi pare che li abbiamo messi a tacere!
  5. Italian lost 600k men killed in the first world war. Not so bad for a bunch of cowards. Yes in the second world war they surrendered at Agedabia, I heard of surrender at Bataan, Singapore, Tobruk, Kiev, Stalingrad, where there are no Italians. Usually encircled men with no hope to be salvaged surrender. Men walking in the sand with no water in the desert must surrender if they cannot break the ring and is difficult to do it with 47at against Matilda. To see what Italians can do also in desperate situations look to the breaking of the Russian ring after operation "Little Uranus"
  6. Great, thanks, but I can't see the mod previews. Colud be posted?
  7. I repost here my humble idea. I saw the PTO debate raising again. It's weird. We have customers, a lot seems, that called for this expasion pack and a company that refused to do it not because they think that isn't a good business(or I missed this statement), but because they are not interested into this branch of the knowledge. May be the answer could be a franchising? If and "only if" there are enough customers, and with the forum a referendum could be easily done, to make the business profitable, I see two chances. 1) the most radical. Lend the code (it's now obsolete because BTF has no will to exploit it again) to some programmers bunch to made an expansion that will be not only a "mod". No job for BTF and moderate income for' em 2) the intermediate. There is a lot of guys around that are so Pacific biased as the BTF crew are for ETO, and that can do all the crude work of research. Absorb' em, like the betatesters, the modders, or like the scenario and campaign developers are in other games (I just finished to help Wild Bill Wilder in a new exciting Mega Campaign for SPWAW that Matrixgames is ready to sell). When finished BTF could fill the code with the new data. (BTW having the raw data ready for the new engine). More job but better income. Cheers

  9. Anyone had noticed the ratio between gun damages and immobilizations (tracks hit, engine and transmission damaged)? I've the feeling (and only a feeling) that we may have a bit too much of the first and a bit too low of the second....
  10. Biased as any of his books, and without any simpathy for the author, but The war between Generals of David Irving is very interesting
  11. The key word is time. You-we are playing with extreme time compression, what you see happening in 30 turns, so 30 minutes, in a real battle would be, may be 30 hours. Take an hour to approach to the target, wait 10 minutes without raise your head and moving a finger till the radio operator could contact the arty support and another 12 till the first shells fall over the enemy, repeat. The casualties ratio will drop dramatically bit you'll have a boring game. More or less like SPR. Twenty minutes to clear Omaha beach and you'll have a great war movie, eight hours and you'll have the greatest boxoffice flop from the time of Cimino's "Heaven's Gate".
  12. BTW the third mod is also fantastic for the incoming Italian scenarios. It looks exactly like the rural houses builded along the Appennini mountains
  13. Defintive solution. 1) BFC recruit JasonC with no pay. 2) Give him the old CM code ( it's now obsolete with the new developing) 3) BFC and JasonC submitted to the CM community a question. What is the most important improvement you will see in the AI behavior and how many months you will wait to have it. 4) JasonC commited himself to code ( If he cannot work at full time, as I think we can calculate the number of job hours to match exactly with the deadline fixed by the CM community) 5) If in the given time JasonC get the goal, BFC start to pay him as programmer, if not JasonC retreat himself from any technical discussion about the BFC products, after a public and verbose acknowledgement of defeat .
  14. Another question from an old Cmmoser now migrating to the new tool. I can store my mods in Cd abd tell the program to extract' em directly from the Cd, to spare the hard disk's space? TIA

Could you make the preview image the default opening page for the mods instead the text info? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just try using my forum instead to have a look at the mods. I am hopeing that modders will post in that with screenshots. If enough do post it will be another way to have a look at mods and hopefully spare up some band width from CMMODS. You should be able to pop into my forum and make a list of mods to download then pop into CMMODS to download them. So come on modders when you upload to CMMODS drop by my place and post there. YES, YES please, with so many artworks apreview site like the old CM Outpost is really needed. Thanks Gautrek Massimo
  16. Hi COG, a suggestion. Could you make the preview image the default opening page for the mods instead the text info? I feel that what is decisive in downloadnig the mod is how it looks, then and only then came the rest. I think that so a click fest could be spared. Massimo
  17. I would suggest to not underestimate some political factor. In a war between Western power and Urss you'll have for sure a civil war in Italy, where thousands of partisans are "reds"( please look at Greece 1946), may be also in France. All the western Commies will revert from allied to fifth column, saboteurs, spies, You'll have the Titoist harassing the south flank of the "pre Nato" deployement. With a great degree of possibility the Chinese revolution with a great support from Moscow would suck a great part of the Usa forces ( more than the war against the Japan). And again remember Korean war. Stalemate, stalemate my friends
  18. The more likely ending will be a bloodshed draw. Both USA and URSS showed not so great ability to put a war to a winning end, after the combined effort of WW2.I suggest to focus on the Korean war as confrontation between Commies and GIs to see what I'm saying
  19. First what means Autostrada during the war time? Answer: it's a paved road where any non motorized vehicle, such as horsedrawn or bycicle, is forbidden, I think that your equivalent is SuperHighway or Freeway. In Italy there is only one road of this kind, the Via del Mare that connected Rome to the sea coast where now is the International Rome's Airport of Fiumicino, more or less 20 miles long, but be careful it was a two way, single lane, without guardrail. All the other paved road could be called "Route" a two way, single lane, narrow ( two trucks side to side an no more) with curvilinear path, surrounding the natural obstacle more than moving straight with tunnels and bridges. Now we can call them only Blue roads. From Rome to the south you had only two of them useful in military term in 1943-44 the Appia road and the Casilina.
  20. I'd read also in Italian's books that one of the great assett of the At gun, the 88 also, in desert was in fact the mirror effect, because the gunners can see the tanks (particulary the Grant) whose turrets are above the visual screen while the gun are invisible for the tank's commander. and the effect was increase digging the gun a couple of feet under the ground level.
  21. Difficult to have a definitve answer. Church. Also a little hamlet could have more than one. The principal Church is more or less in the center of the village, town, but there are many important churches also in the outskirts. Cemetery are usually out of the village. Autostrada was concrete or macadamized but are very few. Railroad station usually in the town, some times in the big city in downtown
  22. I'll join my best wishes for COG personal situation, but to make good from the worst, could the new site (more after the release of the new universal mod manager) have a thumbnail page for the mods hosted. The actual procedure, first select the mod and only then view the screenshot( sometime a bit slow to load) isn't so logical. If the mod don't looks like one espected it's all time and band space wasted. Anyone agreed?
  23. May be it's only a bad luck, but while betatesting the new CMAK scenarios I focused for the first time in so many years of CM fighting over the evidence of casualties inflicted by the explosion of hand grenades. I'd carefully watched hours of replay to find if at the moment, or immediately after, the sight and sound effect of explosion of a single grenade, not bundle or satchel, I could see the unit counter scaled down by one ore more digit. Nothing. Some times the casualties occurred but the target units was under fire also of small arms, so there is non conclusive evidence. On te contrary I saw many guns disabled by exclusive grenade tossing , without casualties in the crew, and, obviously, many tank hit. Now, anyone has a screenshot sequence that proved the direct link beteween grenades and casualties? Thanks Massimo Rocca
  24. Like Aussie at Tobruk, British at Singapore, Americans at Bataan, French everywhere in 40, Russian in millions 1941, Germans at Stalingrad. Confederates at Vicksburg, Austrians at Vittorio Veneto. Again it's an hero who fight into a Matilda versus M13-39 0r viceversa?
