CM icons

The icons that come with the game are very bad. I'm a professional icon designer and tried to modify them, however, my icon software cannot alter an .exe file. Is there any way to modify this file, or would the publisher consider submissions for revision?

I don't think that BTS would like the CM executable modified in any way. You'll have to limit yourself to producing .ICO files and have your desktop utilize those. No further work is being done on CMBO at this point.

Currently BTS is working on CM2 (Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin) which takes place on the Russian front. You could possibly make submissions for that, but I don't think that BTS is looking for submissions that they'll pay for. Dan Olding (KwazyDog) is the employee who is doing most of the graphics (3D and textures) and DeanCo, who is not an employee, has worked with BTS to develop the new interface for CM2. You can possibly email your submissions to Steve Grammont: steve@battlefront.com (I think). Since he's really busy it may take him quite a while to get back to you.

I would gladly submit icon proposals and do not need any payments--just the ego trip is worth the work.

In the meantime, I'd like to know if there is a way to have an .ICO file point to an .exe file and activate it.

Hi Daniel,

Is it possible for you to make an icon that you like? Save it in perhaps the CMBO folder. Put a shortcut on the desktop and in that shortcut's properties choose your new icon as the icon to be used. Or am I misunderstanding your question?
