Hi,

First of all I enjoyed the game, although a couple of little things were not quit right in my opinion. The game didn't allow my artillery observer to take up position in an abandoned tank which I thought was a good idea. The result was he got himself killed. Also specialist scouts in four man squads should be employed without being penalised with morale points. Last I lost a firefly because the poor bugger didn't return in his reversed slope position after he succesfully hunted an enemy panzer. Maybe it was my inexperience and hope other readers know a solution.

iirc correctly destroyed tanks do not block LOS or provide cover.. I remember a thread about this awhile back.. I think it had to do with limitations of the engine?? I think it may be something they add in the future.. Don't quote me on that..

Recon and morale..no idea

Tank not returning after hunting.. unless you you told him to reverse at the end of the hunt command 99% of the time they'll sit there until you tell em to move or they are KO'd

Destroyed vehicles do not block LOS, unless they are burning, and then because of the smoke.

For scouting you may use light vehicles, like jeeps or halftracks, and sharpshooters. In cmbb there are tank hunter teams (2 men) that are good for scouting. AFAIK, in CMBB half squads are not penalised.

About hunting and returning to cover, CMBB introduced a new command to do exactly that. In CMBB you may do this: give the tank a delay, so it will move out of cover at the end of the turn. Next turn, give it a target and a reverse order, with an appropiate delay.

EDIT: in CMBB half-squads are penalised indeed. Otherwise you will always play with halfsquads, as they add more flexibility. However, they don't penalise global morale, as is the case in CMBO.

No,no, he was asking why the observer couldn't crawl inside the abandoned tank. It's a good question. Presently, abandoned heavy weapons and vehicles can't be re-entered.

CMBB addressed your problem with the Firely, by adding a Shoot and Scoot command, which would have fired the gun and then reversed back behind the slope.

Crawling inside an abandoned tank, loaded with petrol and shells, and which the enemy can target just to make sure it is destroyed? I guess that would be the last thing to do.

I've read a fair few accounts of observers crawling into KO-ed tank, and indeed of gunners taking shots at KO-ed because they suspected the same. So pretty realistic and would be nice or inclusion in the new engine.
