Computer Opponents

Hey this is gonna be a kinda of vent, but it does have a point. I was wondering if you guys could look into making the computer matching system, like when you choose to make a game a agaisnt the computer in "Single Mission", simply better. I had just gotten to the Buffalo with my new pilots and on the first mission, the computer paired me up with 69 point Emils. I was utterly blow out of the sky. This is not the only instance where I have been paired with a much higher or lower computer enemy. This is very aggravating especially because the new patch makes leveling lower pilots much slower and much more boring. Could you look into upgrading the system in an upcoming patch?

Thanx,

Shatten

Sometimes you get better opponents, usually you get equal or worse ones.

When you get better ones you get a lot more points for just flying agains them then you do for just flying against lesser ones, even if you do get plastered.

I've been trying to build up a couple of new national teams and I concur that it is a lot more time consuming especially for the Germans since that don't get an upgrade till 69 xp.

My average newbie mission scores about 4 pts so it takes a while if you are trying to get four piliots up.

One thing I have noticed is that if you are paired against a team which is much superior to yourself as you mentioned then simply running away to very high taking pot shots with your wingman will net you 5 points (3 pts for the mission and 2 pts for a decent victory).

This is actually easier than fighting an equal pair in which you will be expected to down one of the other planes.

Whether this is enjoyable is of course a different matter but if your looking to grab xp points harder is better.

newbie question, can you create an online single mission against the ai, like with campaigns....obviously, i'm concerned with building pilots that are able to compete online......or is it possible to transfer local pilots online after some training against the ai?

Welcome aboard, pthomas. Yes, you can create online single missions - as a matter of fact that is how you will gain the vast majority of your xp for your online pilots. No, you can't transfer local pilots to "online" play. Currently, you do not gain any xp for playing in a campaign, as they do NOT use any online pilots that you create. Hope this helped.

Hello guys!

Since round about 3 weeks I'm playing the full version of DiF. At the beginning it was very exciting and made a lot of fun. But now I'm often irritated which unfair games AI is playing. Either the AI got very, very good cards for attacking at the opening of the game and I'm losing my first fighter till the first round. Or the AI has a) enough and B) always the right defending cards to response any attacks of my Wingman or Leader. That's frustrating!

At last two questions:

- is it better to play online-single missions as dogfight or as escort to get XP ?

- some medals requires a bomber-kill. How can i get this medal ?

Thank you for your help!

-Steve-

P.S. Please excused my bad english. It's not my mother language ;)

hi SLM72,

Well missions sometimes can be frustating and it seems AI are always shooting you down(sometimes it happens to me).

What i do in that times is grab a beer and remind me that is just a game and since luck is one of the factors sometimes you are going to be pounded heavily.

Regarding the questions.

Escorts are better for experience but if they go wrong it can cost you XP (if both your bombers get destroyed).

You have to join somebody that is running an escort game. You are going to be one of the interceptors and then you can shoot down bombers

Hopefully this help you

It sure is - and that frustratoin never goes away!! smile.gif

However you can minimise the amount of it you suffer.

Firstly some skills are more valuable than others - especially those that give you more cards, or deduct cards from you opponent. Such skills are usually much more useful than others - and since skil cost increases exponentially as you buy skills it can be a bad mistake to buys some of hte cheap skills early - it makes the more expensive ones almost unattainable in the longer run!

So I recommend that you be patient and buy very expensive skills early on - anticipation, quick reflexes, spoil aim, high performance, redline, distract leader - these are all expensive, but REALLY useful - much more so than natural pilot, aggresive or evasive, starting energy.

However that said I always buy zoom climb first - it is cheap, but also very useful - climbing to get away from enemy is a good tactic as it forces them to drop cards, and you can start low with extra cards and not lose them as you climb. smile.gif

Secondly - get a few "draw an extra card" and "redraws" - I start buying those when I get to about 200 exp - not many, but 1-2 of each. They can REALLY help you get the card you need when you need it - or redraw a set of replacements that is more useful than all IMS's or manouvres when you're trying to stay alive!! smile.gif

P.S. Please excused my bad english. It's not my mother language ;)

It's good enough for me! smile.gif

To Shatten:

Have had the same problem, but it cuts both ways. My best are currently rated about 20 pts. Recently on an intercption mission, the AI sicced a Japanese ace rated at 54 pts on me. Got wiped out totally. But .. a few missions earlier, the same pilot shot down a 37 pt. ace and grabbed a lot of xps fast. Got him and two bombers while the AI team got the wingman. My leader picked up over a hundred points on one mission.
