My PC has the 2.0 .Net framework so I guess it is possible that this is the problem (though from everthing I have read this is not supposed to be a problem).

Here's the exception dump.

I had the some problem and I solve it problem by installing the last version of direct, 9c.

It looks the game does not work with older version like directx8.

That is correct. You need DirectX 9.0c
