kcs Posted August 19, 2000 Share Posted August 19, 2000 Right: Now I am trying to help my technically-challenged friend set up CM on his computer. When he runs CM, he is prompted to accept a 640 X 480 resolution. If he accepts this, the game runs, but the pics are understandably poor. I had him delete the CM preferences file and then hit "skip to next" when this prompt appeared again. However, when he did this, he gets an error that says something like "can not initiate direct 3-D graphics" (this is before askng for any other resolution) and the game aborts. I'm not sure of the specifics of his system (nor is he), but I'm almost positive his resolution for normal matters is 1024 X 768. TeAcH Posted August 19, 2000 Share Posted August 19, 2000 Sounds to me like you are on the right track. You want to ensure that his desktop is set at 1024x768. If necessary, look at the direct3d settings accessible via a right click on the desktop and then choosing properties. Perhaps their is a setting in there too. What type of video card does he have?
