1. Hmmm...yeah, I've done that but it doesn't help. I will email. Thanks K
  2. Thanks everyone. It sounds like I am already dead but hadn't quite realized it. Nuts. Maybe I will save some suffering and just surrender so I can start over and do it right...
  3. I just got the EF expansion and I've updated the game. It works fine, but there are no new images for the new planes. Is this a glitch or am I missing something?
  4. I am playing Axis against a really good player and am not doing too well. It's April of 1941 and so still early times, but I think I need some advice. Right, so I took France, but he made me bleed throught he nose there - I lost a tank unit and like 3 infantry. He also got into the baltic and trashed my navy pretty good (sigh). I've been pressuring Spain to enter the war, and I've gotten them to 82%, but so far they are being pretty coy about joining the fun. All the usual minor countries in the baltics have joined me and I am trying to figure out what to do for the spring offensive. I figure with no navy, Sealion is not a great option. I could invade the Soviets, but it takes forever to knock them out and this leaves me vulnerable to a Dday invasion. I could also get defensive in the East and scarf up as much of Africa and the mideast as I can, but this guy is good and I worry that is not a great idea against him. Ideas??
  5. I just bought the Eastern front expansion and all seems well, except for the fact that there don't seem to be any soviet plane images - am I missing something

Undoubtedly this is a really dumb question - but hey, at least I am consistent, right? So, how does one take a screenshot of the campaign results page? Once I shoot down all those pretty Hurricanes, I want to document the slaughter... Cheers, Der Nagel
  7. How are we supposed to get in contact with our opponent? I am supposed to fight Kingzog, but have ni idea how to reach him... Der Nagel
  8. Ok, I know this is a stupid question but I can't figure it out. Here's the deal: I'm playing "A Day at the Zoo" and neither of my artillery spotters will do anything otehr than run around and get shot. I can target anything.
  9. An excellent point! I simply MUST remember to engage my brain before operating my mouth...
quote:
Originally posted by Madmatt: Well, okay but think that through some. Once he does that, the game remembers the password he used to get in and then once he sends the file to his opponent that guy will NOT be able to get in as there is a password already set-up. If this is the case then there is no problem since it's doubtful the other player will continue to play when he can't get in. If you figured out a way to get in and have it *not* remember the password then please let me know via email and I will check it out. 10. I just wanted to let you know about a bug with 1.05 (maybe it's fixed in the Beta). Apparently when doing a quick battle for email, it's sometimes possible for the player who set up the scenario to access the initial file, input the password for his opponent (which is not yet on file) and view all of his opponent's units. This is not good...
  11. I was playing the "Walk Through Paris" scenario as the French and managed to kill several German tanks with suicidal infantry assualts. You apparently do not need demolition charges - when an officer unit got close enough to a tank, he would stoop down and put what looked like a satchel charge under the tank (of course, he carries no such charges). The charge go boom, the tank she die, and the officer yells "Touche!" Of course, crossing the 100 meters of open ground to the tank is a bit tricky, but even that is possible provided you offer lots of distraction and are sufficiently desperate.
  12. I have been having some frustration trying to get hidden units to spring out and target ONLY armor. For example, a panzerschrek team hidden in a building will expose himself to fire on some poor infantry slep and then get blown away by the follow on armor. Once I got a team with panzerfausts to expose themselves right in front of 4 TD's and 3 jeeps, only to find they were methodically targeting the jeeps! Is there any brilliant way to exert a bit more control in these situations?
  13.
quote:
Originally posted by joeski: Well you probally have to start over cuz your save file is 1.03? Just a thought.

No - my version was always 1.05. In any event, we have tried again since we both upgraded...
  14. A friend of mine just bought CMBO and we tried to play an email game. I saved the game and sent it to him, but he got an error message telling him that I needed to upgrade my version of CMBO. I had 1.05, but just to make sure I upgraded again. Then he noticed that he was shipped 1.03, so he upgraded as well. Now we both have version 1.05 fresh off the web, and we have tried again with an entirely new file, but it still gives this same error message - what gives? 15. Right: Now I am trying to help my technically-challenged friend set up CM on his computer. When he runs CM, he is prompted to accept a 640 X 480 resolution. If he accepts this, the game runs, but the pics are understandably poor. I had him delete the CM preferences file and then hit "skip to next" when this prompt appeared again. However, when he did this, he gets an error that says something like "can not initiate direct 3-D graphics" (this is before askng for any other resolution) and the game aborts. I'm not sure of the specifics of his system (nor is he), but I'm almost positive his resolution for normal matters is 1024 X 768. Help?! kcs
  16. Many Thanks! I might suggest that you include something prominent in the next edition of the rulebook about not playing from the CD-ROM - people like me who are used to these games don't read the introductory instructions on how to run the game (i know, when all else fails, read the directions.) Also, I just wanted to say I really hate you guys! Here it is only 6 days away from a new semester and I can't find time to write my new syllabus or anything because I can't stop playing this game!! I have been waiting for a game like this for years and nw it seems I am hopelessly addicted...when are you coming out with the Eastern Front edition? KCS
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: kcs, The movement line might SHOW over the bridge but your unit should still move under. As for saving games: is it possible that you are mistakenly running Combat Mission directly from the CD-ROM instead of from your hard drive? Make sure you start CM by double-clicking on the Combat Mission.exe file that's on your hard disk, not the CD-ROM, and not a "shortcut" to the EXE on the CD-ROM. Charles

  17. Many thanks!
quote:
Originally posted by Purple Heart Guy: The movement lines go over the bridge but the unit moves under the bridge - or at least they did when I played the operation. To load a saved Operation - Click on Operations and your saved game will be there. Your single battle saved games will be on the Battle screen. Hope this helps.

  18. I have two problems. First, the stupid one. I can save the games, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to load them! What am I missing? Second, more seriously, I was just playing the Arnhem operation and had problems moving my units UNDER the bridge. Sometimes they go under just fine, but then sometimes the movement lines go OVER the bridge, seemingly no matter what I do. Is there a way to fix this? Please Help! kcs
