irishal
First I would like to say thanks, for such a great game, I bought it about two weeks ago and havent stopped playing it. It has even made my put down Elder Scrolls: Oblivion!!!!!!!!!! This is probably the best turn based computer game ive played in the last ten years, and ive been playing computer games for 24 years!!!!! Well it got me thinking, and I hope this thread isnt againest forum rules, but i was just wondering what other good strategy games you guys liked playing, turn based or not, old or new. Here are a few wikipedia links to ones that I love: Rebelstar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebelstar My all time favourite game ever, still playing it after 20 years, the AI is a bit lame as you can imagine, but its pretty awesome for 2 player, would love to play this over email with anyone who remembers it. Battle for Wesnoth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesnoth Cool little game with a fantasy bias, nice online function, but can take about 6 hours for a game. Storm across Europe http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?gameid=1069 Cool SSI game from 1990, very similar in feel to SC2, in fact I was still playing this until I bought SC2, I think Hubert game will retire this one for me. SC2 plays like an upto date version of it, which in my book is a great complement Sword of Aragon http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=1110 Another SSI game from the early 90s, with a fantasy twist. Like SC2, in that it has scripted events, also it is story driven. Panzer General series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_General Needs no explanation, additionally Fantasy general is good, if you prefer that kind of thing. Well, like I said, I hope this isnt againest forum rules, but cmon guys lets share the games we love, so maybe others can discover them and enjoy them too. Turn based games are a dying breed, lets try to keep them alive!!!!!!!

n0kn0k
Gonna give Wesnoth a shot tomorrow. Panzer General series is awesome. Especially PG2 Star General is also very nice if you like a space game.
Canuck_para
Warlords and the rest of that series were very fun. I remember playing a game called Castles as well. There were some ggod games from Koei like Romance of the 3 Kingdoms.

It came on a whoooooping SIX DISCETTES, everyone called me nuts for buying a game that uses so much disc storage, lol. I used to sneak into shops and stole -what was it called- daedric weapons, then resold them to the shop keepers the very next morning. As if they wouldn't recognize the proud of their collection that went missing the last night, lol. I played three Elder Scrolls, but I didn't know there was a 4th title out now. Is it mulit-player ? irishal
Its a bit off the topic of this thread, but there is a 4th Elder Scrolls, its not multi-player, but it is pretty amazing. Google Elder Scrolls: Oblivion to have a look
irishal
What is PTO 1 and 2?
xwormwood
PTO is a game from Koei about the Pacific Theater of Operations. Playable on videogames consoles like SNES, Playstation II and others. I tried it on these both game systems, but wasn't my cup of tea. Games like SC2 I would only call Storm across Europe & Clash of Steel comparable, even though SSI 5-Star Generals Games were masterpieces.
Major Spinello
Hell ... I would like to play Oblivion, but I cannot because my compy does not satisfy the system specs!
J P Wagner
One of my favorites was L'Empereur from KOEI. I played it on my 8 bit Nintendo and for the time, it was a fun Napoleonic strategy game...it is too bad KOEI veered away from these type of games and went along different paths and I think Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the only title that continues to be produced....
