vveedd
What effects will wooded area have on units?
Desert Dave
vveedd, as currently constituted, (... keep in mind that here, as with all else, NOTHING is etched in Moses stone UNTIL beta testing is actually completed) Forests (... wooded areas) will have +1 defense modifier for all types of attacks with a max entrenchment of 3. [All types of attacks = tank defense, soft defense, air, bomber, naval and carrier defenses, excluding subs, of course! ] Mountains will have +4 defense modifier VS Tanks, and +2 for all other attacks, with a max entrenchment of 4. Cities have +2 VS Tanks, and +1 VS all other attacks with a max entrenchment of 4. Capital cities is the same as above, except the max entrenchment is 6. Hope that helps. ev
It would be nice is wood tiles and cities made it harder to spot enemy troops located inside the wood tile or enemy city. Perhaps it could make it more difficult to know the exact strength of the unit located inside the wood tile or the city tile... Any thoughts. Edwin P.
EV, I would say only if the unit adopted a posture of "Hidden" at the start of their turn and does not move or attack - to reflect an active decision to hide their presence - radio silence, hiding trucks in barns and under netting, no parades of troops marching through open fields. Benefit - Reduces spotting range of enemy units by 1. Cost - Unit can't move or increase entrenchment while hidden.
Shaka of Carthage
I'd have to disagree that a unit must take a "hidden" posture. ev has the right idea.
Magpie
Perhaps with a fog of war option turned on, forrest or mountain areas could have some form of 'scaling factor' that allows them to strike once or twice before being spotted
