At this scale I don't think that you want to see a port every other hex. At a larger scale you might want to add these ports, in fact you could do an interesting scenario WWII game based on D-Day and liberating France which would show all of these ports, may I suggest the Old Avalon Hill D-Day Game with a great hex may and showing seven possible invasion areas, including those that you mentioned.

That said, the ports at Breast and Antwerp simulate the major ports along the Northern French coast.

Cherbourg should definitely be in. If not otherwise, then just to allow realistic Normandy invasion.

One argument to reduce the number of ports in France, is to prevent the Germans from invading Britain during the early stages of the war.

One strategy the British player can use to stop the Germans from invading, is to bombard the ports with air/naval power, so the Germans can't launch invasions from these.

Perhaps things have changed in SC2, but if you add too many ports, you're handing the Germans an opertunity to launch a silly ammount of units at Britain at once. Britain might not be able to stop that.

Also remember that for this scale of the game, a unit that is destroyed isn't neccesarily killed to it's last man. An evacuation of the British troops in the Benelux and northern France, might show up in this game as those units were smashed, while in reality they abandoned all their heavy equipment and just tried to get back to England, where they could regroup/reorganize/refit. For this game, doing that, might be the equalient of having to spend MPP's on rebuilding the unit with all it's heavy equipment etc. This can be argued both ways though.

Geographically correct is better. Just make it harder to launch amphibious operations for Germany. Historically I doubt they were pros.. They never got across the Channel. Also you must think about if the Battle of Britian was not fought poorly the Germans could've crossed realisticly? There should merely be special rules. Like Huge attrittion, as the English Countryside was one Huge Pill box and the N.Sea was often too rough waters to cross...

Had Goering not been in control and a smart General would've hit Airfields and Planes/munition factories/Fuel depots/Radar Towers instead of Terror bombing would England had Fallen?

What's wrong with that alternate history? Why do we need a UK? Seeing this Stalin and the US would've jumped the Gun, and pushed their Militarys into Full Gear. So when Germany decides to turn on either, perhaps the realistic outcome would be 3Xs as many Russians and Americans to deal with aye? Full Mobilization of the remaining Powers.
