Panzerkeil
I tried an experiment to see what would happen: anticipating Syria going Vichy, I placed a British corps in the city there. When France capitulated and the colonies went vichy, a popup said that the British corp had surrendered. I checked and sure enough, it was gone. Bummer! AndreasL
The same happens in Iceland. Stationed a German Army unit there before UK could garrison it. A few turns later, a pop up stated that Britain had garrissoned Iceland and the German Army had vanished.

LampCord
In one of my first games, once it became clear that France would fall, I tried to send the BEF south with the intention of transporting it directly to North Africa. He didn't make it and when France fell he was in Vichy territory and immediately surrendered.
Cheese Panzer
This was in SC1 as well. It must a counter to a gamey playtest tactic as there is just no way the Vichy could have forced the surrender of a coherent army right after the fall of France.
