mike8g
This topic has been posted 'bout three weeks ago, but I'd like to revive it as we have further information. 1. Here's the offical announcement from the BWB - WTS homepage: (Partial translation) Second Museum's Night at Koblenz Time schedule: 17:00 Opening and concert with the Luftwaffenmusikkorps 2 (Airforce music corps) 18:00 Presentation of modern and historic tanks in action 19:00 Concert of the US-Army Brass Quintett 20:00 Presentation of German Army Dogs Training School 21:00 Presentation of modern and historic tanks in action (again) whole day - Presentation of communication equipment and a 100mm naval gun turret - Presentation of scale models - Special exhibition "100 years development of scopes - the infantryman of the future" - Guided tours through the river patrol boat "MAGNUM" 01:00 end of the event 2. We (the guys from the first offical German CM meeting in Sinsheim and from the German CMBB preview party) will meet some hours before in order to: - have fewer vehicles to drive to the museum (crowded parking lots !!) - have enough time to visit a good Biergarten before and - have time to discuss news & experiences with the CMBB demo Anybody who is interested is invited to join our little party at almost any point. Just send an email to mike8@lycos.com and I will give you the details about our meeting before. We can also discuss when and where we can pick you up. See you on the 7th, Marcus [ September 07, 2002, 07:48 PM: Message edited by: mike8g ]

Tom TCMHQ
Stoffel , believe me , there are MUCH crueler things than reading these postings. I live 50 km north of Koblenz and was looking forward to this happening since Marcus posted his thread. Now I´m ill , couldn´t travel  and - worst thing of all - I got a phone call 20 minutes ago..... when I picked up the phone I heard a deep roaring sound followed by some " ooohs " and " aahs " in the background. Seconds later an evil voice whispered through the Handy : " Guess WHAT tank this is "   Tom P.S.: Marc , if you EVER read this lines , be SURE you will PAY for this !!!!!

mike8g
"THE ROAD INCIDENT" - or why we need rubbled pavement doodads. This is the pavement area where all vehicles turned around and moved back to their starting position. Here you can see a Kettenkrad: This is an Opel Blitz. The pavement is still in perfect condition. Here comes the first tank: the recovery tank "Bison" [ September 07, 2002, 06:35 PM: Message edited by: mike8g ]
mike8g
And this is how the pavement looked after the first tank: Few vehicles later: a bridgelayer tank "Biber" And here's his "impact" on the road: [ September 07, 2002, 06:39 PM: Message edited by: mike8g ]
mike8g
Finally the ultimate destruction by a M1A1 Abrams: He had some problems not to get immobilized by the bricks: Here's a close-up of the tread as the bricks were crunched: M1A1 Abrams moving away, leaving back some remnants of a paved road: Finally, a Panther moving between the people on the parking lot of the museum. Stoffel
LOL that pavement brings back good old memories:) A NATO exercise in germany,I drove my YPR 765 APC into a small town named Uelzen to find a safe spot to engage my enemies. I turned left at the end of a street than I heard some people screaming and shouting! To the right of my vehicle I saw the asphalt been pushed over the sidewalk. Police in the town wasnt to happy ANyway it was the end of the exercise for us,we had to wait till late in the evening when the roads temperature cooled down to continue movement Tom that was a very horrible deed you described, who was responsible for that evil deed
tools4fools
Was really a fun event. Enjoyed the tanks and the beergarden very much. The German railways was very kind as well, got a ride back to Basle for free!
