Idea's for Next Patch, and Beyond!

Recommended Posts

Just a few idea's for the the next patch:

a. New axis vehicles, Mortorcycle and sidecar with MG, Schwimmwagon with MG.

b. Forward air controller, similar to artillery observer's, but with aircraft.

c. Bridge demolition.

d. Enable commander's to direct, fire, from concelled gun's, vehicle mounted weapons, ie SP mortor's.

e. enable bogged vehicles to be released, pushed out or towed, and maybe tracks to be fixed (not for quick battles)

d. medics, to help units recover some strength (not for quick battles)

e. ammo resupply, (not for quick battles)

Combat Mission, with or without any of the above, is still the best game ever smile.gif

a. New models not possible in a patch, only fix wrong models of allready available units.

b. d (the medic d ;) ) and e ( ammo resupply e ) :

Not possible due to the small time frame in CM battles is the answer i think.

c. would be nice yes, but maybe the time is also the problem for this feature.

d ( first d ): HQ can allready direct mortar fire and also direct mortars on HT's

And yes, CM is indeed the best game ever ( together with MOH:AA smile.gif )

Did we not have some new model's on the last Patch?

Yeah, I agree about the time scale, but many of us play games of upto 90, or even more moves,

That,s an hour and a half, plenty of time to change a track, or tow a vehicle out, the easten front lends it self to longer games

Sorry, did not know SP motar's, could now be directed by commander, if out of line of site.

In version 1.00 of CMBB, some models of AFV's are shared ( too little space on the CD )

In the first patch, some models are fixed.

HQ's can direct mortars yes ( allready possible in CMBO ) but now also the mortar HT's

Be sure the HQ is not hided, otherwise it wont work.

They were updated models--the units were in the game already, just using placeholder models.

As for motorcycle troops, there was some discussion about this. The conclusion reached was:

1) They generally fought dismounted.

2) Splitting squads enough to put them in motorcycles (eg, more than 2 ways) was a coding nightmare.

3) Motorcycles would end up being gamily abused beyond belief.

So it was decided they were not worth the effort to include as mounted units, much like cavalry. You will note that dismounted motorcycle companies are avaliable to the germans.

Thanks to you guys for puting me right on the above stuff, not bitching about Comabt mission, think its a great game, just some idea's that are little clan of players, talk about.

Any more thoughts on forward air controller's? would be nice to call down an air strike, from a CAP, or pre planned air strikes against a target, but I know this was a hot one on CM 1.

Yeah, I understand about operations, but in a battle, I sometimes fight two or three fire fights, with a unit, under battlefield conditions, I would expect, a, some minor wounded men to be patched up, b, some ammo resupply, c, some minor vehicle repairs. I know this is not reasonable in a quick battle lasting 20-30 minutes, but in a longer battle lasting, between one or even two hours, I think it is realalitic, but understand, this may not be within the games capabilaties

The deal is the casualties in the game are assumed to be something along the line of "serious, perhaps fatal, injury requiring some significant healthcare, or at least a bed". In other words, no medic is going to bring these guys back to fighting conditions in an hour.

You can assume that smaller wounds than that ARE handled by medics, you just can't see them. Which is why there isn't three health statuses (Healthy/Casualties/Bumps and Bruises). :D
