rune
Schrullenhaft posted this in another thread: Do you have the CDV version of CMBB ? I don't recognize the HD.EXE executable, which may be unique to CDV's installation. Which OS are you running ? Have your turned off any anti-virus programs that are running in the background ? I suggest closing as many programs as possible before running the install. You may also want to empty any temporary folders/directories on your hard drive (i.e. - C:\WINDOWS\TEMP, etc.). The 'Disk Cleanup' tool may help a bit with this (though it can be unbearably slow in some OSes). You may want to attempt copying all of the files on the CD (if you have the disk space) and see if there are any problems with this process. If possible attempt to run the installation from the files you copied to the hard drive (though this may not work) and see if you get the same error. Schrullenhaft
What do you have running in WinXP when you attempt to install CMBB/CM2 (Ctrl-Alt-Del) ? Are you sure you don't have an anti-virus program running in the background ? What have you actually tried already ?

Bertram
I am just strolling along, and it is non of my bussiness, but you could at least kill Getright. It is an annoying program, that sets itself in your start up file each time you use it, uses memory, and registrates when and what you download. It also helps you with those downloads, so if you download often, and have a connection that is often broken it might be worth the trouble, but you do need to remove it (again) from the start up files after each time you start it up. Bertram P.s.: it wont help you with your CMBB troubles though.
Schrullenhaft
'Avengine' is a Norton Anti-virus product. Can you kill that process ? I suggest 'killing' the following process before installing CMBB: Avengine.exe getright.exe Pavsrv51.exe (probably another anti-virus program) WZQKPICK.EXE CTSVCCDA.EXE alg.exe CTLTask.exe CTLtray.exe rundll32.exe (this is a 'helper' .DLL for some program that is running) CTHELPER.EXE LMonitor.exe winampa.exe qttask.exe fs20.exe IncMail.exe and close down Internet Explorer too. You have too much junk running that may interfere with the installer. You might have a problem trying to close some of these processes, which may lead to the requirement of uninstalling some of these programs (temporarily). The most likely culprits are anti-virus programs. I suggest using only one of these if actually have more than one installed.
