tar Posted December 22, 2003 Share Posted December 22, 2003 Sounds like there may be a firewall issue. You may have hardware or software that is blocking incoming messages. If it is 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x, then you may be unable to host a TCP/IP game since your provider is giving you a "private" IP address that isn't routable over the internet. Having a routable IP address is necessary for the CM series since each computer must be able to directly communicate with the other. You can check out what the rest of the Internet thinks is your IP address at What is my ip ? You can compare this address to whatever your network control panel reports as your IP address. As tar mentioned this may also be a 'firewall' issue. Did you have to install some software from your ISP to run the ADSL Modem (I'm fairly certain you must have) ? Are there control panels or a 'web configurator' for your modem ? You may need to look through your documentation or contact your ISP about the IP Address scheme being used and if there is anyway to have your computer have access to TCP Port 7023 (it might not be possible). 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Schrullenhaft Posted December 22, 2003 Share Posted December 22, 2003 The 209.x.x.x address is what your ADSL modem has and is the address that you need to hand out to others when it comes to 'hosting' games (I assume that this is most likely a permanent address). The 192.x.x.x address may be something that the ADSL modem/router is giving your computer (thus possibly allowing several computers to hook up to the modem... uh, somehow). Anyway, you may need to look through your documentation to find out if there is a built-in firewall on the modem and what it would take to open up TCP Port 7023 for both incoming and outgoing (if this is necessary). 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
