JaegerMeister
This is one for the grogs on here:- Can anyone post on here some effective combat ranges for the early German AT & tank guns, such as the 37AT, 50mm L42 & L60 against the more typical soviet tanks in the 1941/42 era. Be nice to know what ambush ranges to set or when to engage and when not. Many thanks.
ParaBellum
Uh, isn't this information available in the detailed unit statistics by pressing the 'enter' key?
Zarquon
Just set up a test scenario with some guns in woods, opposite tanks at different ranges. Use the LOS tool. Chances for first hits are displayed with the target. This obvoiusly does not account for moving targets, obstructions, suppressed gun crews etc. but it should do the trick. BTW, do not forget to post the results here because I'm too busy playing to do this test myself...
Redwolf
This whole "effective range" thing in military equipment guides is just to feed people who are too stupid to understand a complex matter. There is no single effective range, reality is made of probabilities. Having said that, did you try putting the guns and tanks int he editor and use the "Line of sight tool"? It will give you a kill change (Good, OK, rare, are you kidding and so forth).
