Thompson
So, I've read we Europeans can order CM:AK directly from Battlefront this time (and there was much rejoicing! ), but the big question is - yeah, you guessed it - will our "pal" CDV release the European version that's sold in local game stores?
Moon
Yes, CDV will be releasing a localized German, French and English (UK) version. Martin

Sirocco
I saw a price of £18.99 for CMAK from a UK mail order supplier. That must be a mistake..?
Thomas Goetz
Just another thought on names for things. During World War II, it was the British more than any other nation that felt a need to attach names to military equipment. Most official British designations of things, whether airplanes, tanks, or weapons, used names. For example, the Supermarine Spitfire Mark IX. No other combatant that I am aware of gave priority to the name over an alpha-numeric designator. Many other countries did hang nicknames on some of their equipment, but these names were almost never part of the official designation. It was the British, in fact, that gave some American aircraft their popular names. The P-51 Mustang and P-38 Lightning both got their names from the British, not their American manufacturers. The P-51's original American name was the Apache. Another random thought about the original question for this thread - the name of the Matilda tank. Might it have had anything to do with the popular Australian ballad, "Waltzing Matilda"? That song had been popular during the Great War, so it would certainly be known in England. Just curious to know if anyone might have heard anything one way or another about that. By the way, this Btitish obsession about naming things extended to, among other things, aircraft engines. The Rolls Royce Merlin is named after a small hawk, not the wizzard. Other aircraft engines included the Kestrel, (another hawk) the Hercules, and the Goblin (an early jet).
Thomas Goetz
Aw, nuts! Hit the wrong button, and put my previous response in the wrong thread. Mea culpa!
Thompson
Heh, checked the CDV site (dunno why), gotta love that genre specification of "Realistic Wargame". Dang, I thought this was a fantasy game! Also, it's nice that we Europeans already have CM 3 (as CDV calls CMAK), even though the rest of the world is still waiting for CM 2 to be released, poor devils. I noticed (in CMAK FAQ) that the game price, when ordering from Battlefront, is $35. That'll be cheaper, even with postage, than at stores (at least in Finland where most new games cost around 50 Euros). Oh goody! Paul Hammond
For Thomas The Matilda Mk 1 was named after I believe a childrens character called Matilda the duck, as the Mk1 was very similar in shape and was perceived to waddle etc, hence the name anyway this is what an ex Royal Tankie told me.
