MikeyD
The 75mm gun on the M3 GMC AT half-track is indeed the m1897 (I just learned that recently, myself!). It's the good-old French gun alright. The U.S. pretty much used-up its stockpile of the aging French gun producing the (1,000+?) M3 GMCs. Plans were in the works to transition to the Sherman's M3 gun on the half-track chassis, but the project was cancelled and it never got fielded. That's not the only place the M1897 appears in the game. As a stop-gap before fielding their own 75mm AT design Germany mounted the very same gun on a 50mm gun carriage! The barrel was cut down and a pepper-pot muzzle brake added. I can't recall the designation off the top of my head but its in the game.

JasonC
The PAK 97/38. 97 because it is the French 75 model 1897, and 38 because it is on the PAK 38 chassis. Made from guns captured in France in 1940, on German field carriages.
