Valentine tanks first action with the 8th Royal Tank Regiment of the 1st Army Tank Brigade at Capuzzo on Nov 22, 1941.

Yes, Valentine II would be historical. I think the IV with the diesal engine comes later but not sure exactly when. My guess is when US Tanks with diesal engines become common. (The British had problems keeping captured Italian tanks with diesal engines running!)

My post on the patches page might help.

I suggest you do an internet search or find a library book with a battle account for this period - it will help a lot and will give you lots of other ideas.

Kinda stacks the odds for the Germans, doesn't it? Historically, the Brits had some forces with "armor" level numbers of tanks using Crusaders and Honeys, and others with "combined arms" numbers of tanks using Valentines. The former basically lost their fight with the Germans. The latter then drove up the coast road and won the overall fight anyway.

There in lies the fun of doing historical scenarios. Using what they had and yet make it at least a competitive battle.
