Lanzfeld
I finally figured out something about what I, personally, like and dislike about certain battles. It hit me like a ton of bricks that battles with time limits (15 minutes or so) really are not fun or realistic. At the company level I think that one to two hours to complete a battle is much more realistic. When you have two hours you can really plan an attack and see how it developes. You can pull back and try different avenues. You can try longer flanks too. As the defender you can rotate troops to defend and try different ambushes. Anyway....I am going to try to modify all my battles to two hours and enjoy. Just my thoughts....... Merry Christmas......
Folbec
2 hours is probably too long considering usual CM ammo expenditure. Be sure to take on an opponent who knows how to use cease fire... But I agree that anything under 40+ feels contrieved to me. No way to have infantry scout ahead of tanks on most maps for instance.
Lanzfeld
Good point about the ammo. I agree....it is very stratigic to make your troops SAVE ammo for the longer battles (90+ minutes).
Other Means
For 3k QB's I usually have 50+ turns. It just makes sense to me to have the extra time. Funnily enough, I even prefer it on the defense.
Zalgiris 1410
My games against the AI rarely go over 40 turns so I like 40+ or so (max when on the defense) while important things are usually still happenning at around turn 30 IME. At 15 to 20 I've just got started during my battles usually not having fired a shot except for some off board artillery even if just spotting rounds!
