minimum spec people are runnin this on?

Recommended Posts

CMAK and CMBB don't run very well on my notebook. On my desktop (Athlon XP2400+, GeForce3) even huge scenarios run smoothly in full graphics.

On my IBM Thinkpad (1400MHz, mobile Radeon) medium size scenarios are acceptable with terrain elements turned down. Bigger scenarios are playable, but I can't enjoy them. It takes up to one second from clicking on the map until a movement order appears.

Im not sure if the problem is CPU power or the mobile radeon.

Hi mate - I've used several laptops with CMBB and CMAK - ranging from a 1.1ghz Intel Centrino right up to a AMD FX57. You shouldnt have any major issues with the processor to be honest although please take into account you will not be able to play the largest battles comfortably if you opt for the cheapest processor.

More importantly however is the RAM and the VGA (to a lesser extent). If possible opt for at least 1GB of memory, although you can play it with 512mb. Regards the gpu, I've used the most basic onboard VGA to a mobile 7900GTX - you'll need to check the minimum specs on the site, but you'll need a half decent card to play the battles at their highest settings. If you want to play with "fog" weather effects you'll need an Nvidia card - as the ATI cards do no support it at all. Hope this helps!

*Edit - Just reading the above, you need to make sure you buy a newish laptop!

Those specs are very similar to my laptop. CMBB runs fine on it, even the "large" size scenarios. I think that only the hugest scenarios, in urban environments with lots of rubble and smoke, could potentially give you a problem with the graphics. That doesnt bother me because I don't have the time to play a huge-sized scenario!
