Jim Harrison
I am interested in knowing what causes a wide tracked AFV like a King Tiger to bog in VERY DRY conditions???? It seems almost as if the AI is using this tactic to "even" the game???
Hans
I believe that 'bogged' also covers failure of the track/wheel system, ie mechanical error - this is often happens if you are moving FAST over terrain. I'm sure a grog will be along to explain it even more. The next question you might ask is, is that realistic? Yes I once broke a track on a M577 going SLOW a flat very dry asphalt road! You can tell the AI is cheating when a big thumb comes out of the sky, squishes your tank and you hear a rumbling laugh (Madmatt) in the distance....
Jim Harrison
LOL ok thanks for the explanation I figured it was just something I didn't quite understand. To me a "breakdown" is much more plausable than bogged and the visual the game gives is the AFV sinking into the ground (which further confuses my already feeble mind LOL)
Monty
The CMBO manual ONLY talks about bogging in terrain like mud and snow and not about breaking down. Maybe an extra Status icon ( Malfunction or Broken down ) can be added in next CM engine ? Monty aka Mossie
Bone_Vulture
I've mentioned this once earlier... I once saw a KV-1 bog on grass in very dry conditions. So either there's always a tiny percentual chance of bogging, or the engine calculates a vehicle-based breakdown probability.
SgtMuhammed
The last I heard from Steve on the subject was that Bogging does indeed simulate vehicle breakdown as well as actually getting stuck.

The tank hadn't moved more than about 2 inches when an end cap shattered and the track flew off. Got my attention.
MikeyD
'Bogg' has to be limited to any problem than can be fixed in the few seconds/minutes than the tank is bogged, so I doubt throwing a track can be included. That'd put it into the 'Immobile' category, especially if the tank's under fire. So 'Bogging' could include getting hung up on a tree stump, getting brush wrapped around the drive sprocket, stuff like that. Breaking parts and fixing them usually takes more than 30 seconds of bogg time.
