Zoppex
Next month I´ll get a DSL internet connection and as a great friend of Combat Mission I want to play a TCP/IP then. I will use the XP-firewall together with ZoneAlert. Does that work and do I have to open a special port for that? Is my computer still protected against hacker attacks and so on? How to get a partner for a game?
Ellros
I use Zonealarm, and as long as I have CM set to pass thru, I have not have any problems.
Ubertracker
I find I have to disable the XP firewall for a lot of games. Problems connecting. If you disable it, close any browser or email apps and make sure your AV software is running.
WWB
CMBB will not connect thru the XP firewall. It does work through Zone Alarm. Joining is easy--just let the program pass thru and act as server. Hosting is a bit more involved--you need the other guy's IP and to add them to the "trusted zone" to get a connection. All this will go on the 3dWargamer's CM tech section as soon as I get my new DSL up and running. WWB
