Caronte
Hi guys! I have a very stupid but also important question about the vehicle needed to embark a russian artillery spotter. For me is quite strange as a 2 men unit cannot be mounted in a jeep, tank or MG carrier! What's the reason for this? i can understand that he rear part of a tank is not a nice place for a radio station, but a light transport... Thx in advance.
vbfg
If he communicates via wire, and he probably does, then he must walk.
flamingknives
Select your spotter, hit 'enter' and the unit info screen will pop up. If it says ' (Radio) ' at the end of the description, then he can hitch a lift on pretty much anything, otherwise, due to the need to lay a telephone wire back to the battery, he's going to have to walk.
JasonC
And because of the wire FOs walk at speed "slow", it is best to use them from set up locations with LOS to where you expect to fire. Repositioning along a completely covered route others have advanced safely over is possible, but tends to greatly delay effective fire missions if the route is of any length. Like, until the second half of a typical battle.
Michael Emrys
If you use them for preplanned fire, you can put them anywhere on the map. They don't need LoS. Michael
