Tigrii
I was playing a QB and had 1 turn in which to grab the last flag. It was just a question of speed. I had suppressed destroyed all German units that could threaten my advance in the sector by that point, except for 1 squad holding the flag. So my HT-mounted platoon sets off, and the HQ-track clips a patch of scattered treesand promptly bogs down. The rest of the platoon proceeds without the HQ towards the flag and it's lone defender. Meanwhile, the HQ-track immobilizes and the crew start bailing out! The Hq is then forced to leg it, and never makes it. Then one of the squad-tracks bogs and immobilizes! The crew of this one, however, stay in their HT to man the MG. So my force is reduced to two HTs (both down a crew member) and two squads out of C&C. The squads disembark and assualt their objective. The lone squad routs both since they were GREEN because the computer degraded them after I ordered regular!!! So I only got a tacticla victory because of the flag and HT lost! P.S. This post has no particular point, it's just a rant.
GRUMLIN
You think thats bad. I am creaming Mac in a QB, apart from THIS TURN when a retreating crew from an overrun gun of his gets their act together and wipes out 2 squads of pioneers that were advancing on em from under 80 feet. sheesh. and i thought the buggers only had pistols. G
Tigrii
Yeah, I once had a 7-man crack 88 AT crew drive off a recon platoon, inflicting 15 casualties. And they do only have pistols.
SgtMuhammed
Maybe they did a Private Ryan and threw 88 shells at them.
Michael Dorosh
one turn left? Speed the key? Hmm, sounds like a gamey last turn flag rusher got his ass handed to him, and deservedly so.

I mean that would be gamey . So I sit back and watch the Nazis win? It's not like I base my strategy around setting up the game to make a last turn flag rush!!! It was just my only option. O fcourse, my "gamey" move was forced by "gamey" circumstances. In real war, do they say, "okay it's been half an hour, time to stop the fighting because our time's up? No they keep going, and take the objective!
Snarker
Fried by Feld Marshall Von Woodstein's crack Orchard Brigade? Hate it when that happens.
Guest Mike
Dunno what your problem is - what else would you expect a Nazi sympathetic tree to do?? Or surely you're not suggesting that you expect this sort of behaviour from Soviet-sympathetic trees?

Surely your Komissar shot them on the spot?
Gaylord Focker
Wich brings the question, why are'nt lumber jack squads on horseback modeled?
Michael Emrys
You think you got it bad? After an especially bloody fight for the lone flag, we were each down to one intact squad each about to engage in do-or-die hand to hand combat to determine the outcome of the battle. Then what should happen but a tornado (at least that's what it looked like) appeared out of nowhere and deposited—are you ready for this?—the USS Missouri right on my squad, squashing every man jack in it to a bloody pulp and awarding my opponent a total victory. Deus ex machina. Bummer. Michael
notalex
Wich brings the question, why are'nt lumber jack squads on horseback modeled? [[big Grin]] Singing the Monty Python "Lumberjack Song" mod. (I understand it's quite moving in Russian.) You notice how BTS never comments on these threads? We'll probably not even get a credit when they turn up in the engine rewrite.
