  1. I am trying to load CMAK onto a new PC. CMBB loaded fine and runs fine. The CMAK I have is the CDV Anthology version (2004). Disc one runs and installs, then the request for the second disc comes on. I insert the second disc, and nothing. Autorun is on, and the pc can see that it is a different disc (i,e, in desktop I can see the disc has changed). Any ideas? G
  2. Am I too late to flame / troll? Sorry for the poor timekeeping.
  3. I'd love to play - ooperational level if possible. Better with axis kit than allied kit, but willing to try either... Grumlin
  4. Wow. I walked this terrain in August last year and it is incredible to see this photo..... The thing you don't get from this lot is how bloody flat the ground is for miles. From where the Tigers were knocked out to where the AT guns were is very very very flat indeed. the Tigers had good cover to their left flank (cos the road was/is higher than the surrounding). Grum
  5. just got cmbb and cmak running via bootcamp. both fine, and its runs very well indeed on the big macbook pro screen. one word of advice - chose the partition version that lets the mac grab files from the xp side, and vice versa, or you will have to use a usb key to transfer pbem files. also, make the xp partition 8 meg, as cmbb plus cmak plus the xp mandatory stuff rolls over the standard 5meg limit...i had to delete a bunch of stuff to squeeze cmak in!!! Grum
  6. What about installing OS9 on my Macbook pro? Is that a runner - can I do that and only use the OS9 for the CMBB/AK?
  7. goddamit. you mean i have to stick with crappy windows AND i shelled out money for a set of MAC disks that are now just coffee cup placemats?
  8. So can anyone talk me through in micky mouse language how I can get MCBB and CMAK running on a macbook pro? I just ordered the Mac versions and didnt realise until trying to load them that I've have problems. Help please!
  9. Is it true that Jason C has appeared on at least one monkeynews?
  10. Having walked through the terrain just north of Falaise this summer, and around Carentan two years ago, the hedge quality varies massively, as it does in the UK. Any of you near Orpington in Kent (UK), go look at the old road running from green st green up over the hill to farnborough (called old hill, funnily enough). That old road is about 10 feet below the banks of the woods and fields either side. Follow it up to farnborough church via church road and there is a fantastic bocage on the right hand side......although they may well build on that land soon enough...sigh. However, just as in the SE of England, a lot of hedge boundaries were lesser obstacles. Tough to get through, yes, impossible to see through, sure, but not impassable to a determined tanker. I'd say scenario designers could continue to use scattered trees for these, but for the real bocages stick woods on a road edge, with a height variance as well. btw, those of you that want to look on google maps: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&sll=51.265393,0.49386&sspn=0.068099,0.161018&q=old+hill+farnborough&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=51.353238,0.088105&spn=0.016992,0.040255&t=k&om=1

  12. Let me guess - you are playing CMAK from a base in Iraq. LOOK OUT THE WINDOW, FOOL
  13. Personally I am very suspicious. I think he may be a nazi time traveller trying to get inside information on the allied equipment to take back to '42-43....CUNNING SWINE! Grumlin
  14. Wow, and I thought that I was bad at not reading the manual. A boy like this smells like he would be a sweeeeet opponent. David I, fancy a game? Grumlin
  15. Another nice trench technique I have used in Onionwars against the stinnking pinks is to lay a minefield across a trench. OUCH!! goes the smg squads Grumlin

  17. I want to know what she is holding in her OTHER hand?!!??
  18. I tend to use the same passwords for most games; as my brain gets older its less stressful on the old grey cells. But..sometimes (especially in the onionwars campaigns) it would be nice to let my oppo see certain turns after we finish the match. If we could change passwords somehow that would be very useful - don;t know if this would be possible.
  19. I'm seen units in on-fire buildings unaffected before, sitting there happily and watching the world go by. I've also seen units broken by being in a house that catches fire. Don;t know what triggers the differnce... But sound like you did all the right stuff and just got unlucky. Although i always blow the whole building up just to be sure Grum
  20. have you got any assault guns? or kv2s? large calibre direct fire gets em running. or...can you go around the trenches at all? or...flamertanks? or...quad gun AA halftracks or...er....thats it of course, if you were sensible and played german the 150mm inf gun would be your friend Grumlin
  21. What do we all love about the CMX series? For me, its the chance to go head to head with a human opponent and use tactics and strategy to win. That lucky roll when a small AT gun takes down a Tiger. A single infantry unit going postal in defence and mowing down hordes of assaulting sovs. Timing your arty barrage just right to finish as your first men walk into the dazed enemy. But......could BFC make it even better in the future by licensing the engine to companies like Games Workshop? If I could play CM style tactics against Orks and Space Marines, heaven would be here......
  22. Seriously. on the vulgarity note are we going to hear more of the shouts from PBI along the lines of 'bastards' that I swear I have heard my British infantry shout at times. Perhaps we coudd know when they have gone fanatical by the fact they start shouting 'ooo want sum den'? Grumlin
  23. At present, when you ID an enemy and they then disappear, you get an Icon (red star for sovs for example). If that same unit appears somewhere else, that red star disappears so you KNOW that that was the first unit you have already seen. This means that it is very hard to bluff you have more than one tank, for example, by running it around a bit. If you could have some way of icons slowly fading out over time, it would preserve FOW a bit better....or maybe icons just don't disappear until a friendly unit gets enough of a LOS to see that there is nothing still there oh, and keep PBEM cos us hardworking fathers have no time for IP!!
  24. Perhaps they are aiming at a different type of armoured formation? http://www.romans-in-britain.org.uk/Graphics/mil_testudo.gif
