Michael Dorosh
I am googling like mad, but can't find any detailed pictures of the early war collar tab devices - the little metal squares and triangles worn on the tabs. Can anyone help out? Also some other questions - did the early war pilotka come only unpiped, or did officers have branch/gold piping? - did the khaki collar tab as worn on the shirt have a branch or gold piping for officers? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone help out?http://www.collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=7214 for rectangular ones http://www.collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=7238 for square ones You can even buy some of them there AFAIK the triangular rank devices were iddentical to the reactangular and square ones - did the early war pilotka come only unpiped, or did officers have branch/gold piping?Since 1935, officer's pilotkas were piped in branch color (rapsberry for infantry, red for artillery etc.) Enlisted ranks always wore unpiped pilotkas - did the khaki collar tab as worn on the shirt have a branch or gold piping for officers? AFAIK they didn't
