Crank_GS
I am reading "Island of Fire" by Jason Mark. It is the story of the battle for the Barrikady Factory in Stalingrad, Nov '42-Feb '43. It is an excellent book. One of the great features of the book is a large fold out map of the factory area down to the Volga riverbank. I just went to maps.google.com and looked at Volgograd. Wow! I saw the area where the Kommisars House once stood. The outline of the building is still visible. In the book, it says the building was demolished in 2003. It is amazing to me to see that area in a bright, color photograph. You can actually zoom in pretty close, too. Amazing.

The talk at the ASL Forums is that this book is THE one to have on the fighting in the Barrikady - despite the cost. If that makes you feel any better. Check out the author's website and download the samples. And most amazing part- the dude lives in Australia and researches through the mail.
RCHRD
It's about the fight between the Barrikady and the Volga. Very little about the factory fight itself. Still worth every penny.
RCHRD
As a side note, the commisars house was demolished only recently, much to the dismay of the people who were awestruck by it. You can google earth Volgograd and still see the outline in the ground. Several of the surrounding buildings were restored and look now just as they did in 42.
