Jollyguy
A neutral US can park a cruiser just to the left of Gibralter's port, even if the Axis took the Rock, and block the entire Italian Navy from moving into the Atlantic. Sure the cruiser eventually drops to 0 supply, but it's purpose is served, and then it can move west just before the US joins, or stay, it depends. The first time it's done to you it's fairly frustrating and can be subsequently fixed with a house rule, but IMO the better solution is to setup a standard script, as I just don't like scheduling a bunch of house rules before playing a new opponent. n0kn0k
Movement from nonactive allies should be restricted. Only unitbuying, placement and research should be available.
Edwin P.
Movement of US ships too close to Spain triggers a 25% to 35% increase in Spanish war readiness. If you are watching the dipolomacy screen when this happens invests a few diplomacy chits in Spain and they should join the Axis.
BioWizard
I think Jollyguy's comment applies to a situation where axis has already conquered Spain and is approaching Gibraltar. This situation becomes more and more the usual in HvsH with the 1.05a patch that makes more costly/unlikely Spain joining Axis!
Edwin P.
Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps, if USA approaches Spain then American war readiness declines? A definite incentive for American forces to avoid Spain.
Jollyguy
Yes, to clarify, it's after Spain is already in. Then that sole cruiser becomes a total bottleneck to the Italian Navy. An even gamier move might be to transport a US corp and park that there, with the same bottleneck result. For less than 150 mpps the Italian Navy would be locked up, allowing the USN and RN to assemble in the Atlantic for a counterblow, and/or making the Axis put air units in Spain to take out the cruiser, diminishing Barbarossa. Anyway you look at it, it's gamey. Bob
Hubert Cater
Thanks for the feedback Bob. Unfortunately this one is a little tricky as originally I wanted to have it that naval units could pass through hidden Neutral units but there were some issues with having it work just right in the case where you could not complete your move right through a series of hidden Neutral units. Essentially the problem is it cannot work exactly like how it does where you can pass through your own units since the enemy units are hidden and handling this special case was as far as I remember a little problematic. I'll see what I can do though.
