Sombra
Hello, I have got a small problem when hosting a game. I can do it only if I turn the internal XP-Firewall off. This is something I don´t like very much. Anybody knows which settings I will have to use without turnung the firewall completly off? I use a dial up modem if it is off any importance. Thank you in advance!
Hubert Cater
I don't think there is much you can do if you are only working with the build in XP firewall. An alternative would be to disable the XP firewall and use a third party firewall such as ZoneAlarm, with this utility you can manually set permissions for various programs and IP's. Hope this helps, Hubert
Sombra
Thank you very much for your answer. Even if I can´t be helped at least I am not feeling stupid anymore...
JerseyJohn
I had BlackIce, which I haven't upgraded and it started making my programs crash for some inexplicable reason, so I removed it and went to the built in FireWall. I'm very satisfied with it but haven't hosted a game yet. If I do, presumably the way to go would be disabling the XP Firewall and putting BlackIce back in force. It's enough to make a guy play checkers instead! Anyway, learned a few things from those posts, thanks Sombra and, as always, Mr. C..
H.J. von Arnim
As I also experienced troubles using BlackIce or ZoneAlarm I decided to try out Sygate Personal FireWall....Guess what ? No problems whatsoever - here is the link if you want to give it a try: http://www.tucows.com/preview/213160.html
