Use of ICQ for MP Games

Iron Ranger,

I saw you posting several times in the opponent finder without sucess finding someone to play.

Beside that we are very few active players at the mom, it´s really an absolute priority to own and to use ICQ. I make almost all my appointments for SC games in ICQ meanwhile. Another advantage is that you can immediately post a message and restart the game without waitng endless for a post in the forum. And additionally if you dont have enough time for a game you can just chat with somebody of our community. So the only thing i can say to you is "Go for it" ;)

I used ICQ for probably a number of years.

Then AOL bought it.

Gee now it is knee deep in porno scam accounts, what a shock.

Do a random chat search sometime, see if you actually find someone that ISN'T a porno scam account now.

Seems comically ironic, because I dumped ICQ shortly before this situation began due to the apparent intolerance of the average user screaming NO Cyber.

I wonder where all THOSE accounts fled to eh smile.gif

At any rate, ICQ is not the best nor the worst option, it is just one of them.

I prefer Yahoo myself, and I have AOL IM on my system because some like that one too. ICQ is only there as a remnant of my past, but I still employ it occasionally.

Best solution though, is to go get the free software for Trillian from Cerulean Studios. Because with Trillian running, you have all the others at your finger tips through just one interface.

As for finding opponents though, just depends on where you look.

If you are only looking in here at Battlefront, you have already made the first mistake. Battlefront made the game, sells the game, and this is the official forum. But this is not the only place we hard core SC fans hang out.

Sand Castle you need it too as you and ranger are the last ones looking for opponents in the opponent finder. tongue.gif

The possiblity to adress your request for a game personally to the person you wanna play is a much better solution. You can also see who is online and who not.

No endless waiting in the forum anymore as you can see if anybody is arround.

Les

it will not make sence if somebody is using another mean of communication. Most SC players have Icq...so if you are the only one with AIM or Yahoo ....nobody can talk with you.

I have em all actually.

If anyone wants to connect with me that way I am open to offer it, but I don't actually have it active much (I use it like an answering machine actually).

Hi you have reached Les's ICQ, Les is in Yahoo right now likely fiddling with his Kiwi girlfriend, please leave a message and Les will get back to you eventually.

I don't routinely advertise my IDs because I routinely don't use them that way.

I am easier to reach through a PM on one of the many forums I frequent (because I am on them a lot more often).

Should any one of the popular IM options be wished, it is possible. When I open Trilian they all become active simultaneously, which is why it is immaterial (to me at least) which IM you are using. I might look like I am on ICQ if I have you on my ICQ list, when in fact I am actually using Trilian.

One IM to rule them all hehe smile.gif

I have not yet gone the route to playing "live" per se TCP/IP but not against it. I just can't assure anyone I will have 3 solid hours or so in any segment of the day (limitation of my disability, can't sit to long, I get up a lot).
