Dramatic Developments in the Balkans!

Forced into action by numerous border incursions and the abominable treatment of the Italian population in Greece, Italy has acted to restore order to the Balkans.

Fortunately, large scale amphibious exercises were taking place in the Aegean when the provocations of the Greek government finally became intolerable.

1940-c.jpg

Greeted as liberators, Italian forces, supported by the guns of the cruiser Fiume, landed from the sea and completely encircled Athens. The stunned defenders quickly surrendered.

pt-223-stukarueckkehrkreta-75dpi.jpg

The Luftwaffe, based in Southern Italy, have given massive support to the Italian liberating forces. The Greek Armies on the Metaxas Line have been subjected to heavy bombing, which has shattered their ability to resist.

Only scattered pockets of Greek resistance remain to be mopped up.

Meanwhile in the artificial Versailles state of Yugoslavia, seditious elements led by their idiot young king have overthrown the legitimate government.

German, Hungarian and Rumanian forces have been mobilized to assist in the crushing of the uprising.

Athens falls under devastating Itlaian ground and naval attacks and pulverizing sorties by the Luftwaffe out of the Taranto area.

Yugoslavia honors it's alliance and enters the war, finding a large German Army Group poised along it's Hungarian border!

The world is shocked by this senseless and unprovoked agression and peace loving people will not forget the Gallant Greets and Yugoslavians.

Greece Falls!

ww2_it34.jpg

With the dash and vigour characteristic of Italian troops (and with Luftwaffe support), the remnants of the Greek Army have been smashed. An armistice has been signed, and the Italian Army is now working hard to repair the damages of war.

To the north, the Royal Yugoslav Army has been utterly destroyed by a series of hammer blows from German, Hungarian and Rumanian forces. Belgrade has been declared an open city, and eagerly awaits it's liberators.

"Axis development of Balkan real estate."

bienationalbank.jpg

British Prime Minister Winston Churchill flanked by American Ambassadors Sumner Welles and Joseph Kennedy.

osc05p.jpg

Welles, sent to Europe by Franklin Roosevelt to try and arrange a peaceful settlement to the war has just sent a coded message to the State Department and the President.

"Prospect for settlement is not good, The Axis is now taking the remaining countries in pairs and Bulgaria is the latest to be bullied into it's ranks. In Italy I was told that Il Duce is eyeing Egypt and the Sudan. In Germany, despite the non-aggression pact, top Nazis talk freely of Aryan settlement of European Russia. Little hope for sucess of mission, will return home shortly.

-- SW."

The United States Ambassador to England, Joseph Kennedy made a similar statement but it was neither in code nor confidential. He was quoted by several major United States newspapers as saying,

"Britain can't win this war against England and Germany. It's wisest course would be to seek a negotiated peace at the earliest possible moment. The Germans wish to leave the British Empire intact; any fool can see the Nazis haven't dropped a single bomb on British territory and they've left them alone in Egypt. There's a reason for this kid glove treatment and it's sheer bull-headedness on Churchill's part to ignore it."(*)

In a more confidential communique, Sumner Welles writes to F. D. R., "Churchill was already stinking of Scotch when our meeting began and his eyes had a glassy appearance. I believe the man was drunk!"(**)

*Joseph Kennedy was in fact very outspoken about the prospect of Britain losing the war and very critical of Churchill's decision to continue fighting.

**Sumner Welles statement is paraphrased from an actual message to Roosevelt regarding his meeting with the Churchill in 1940.

Yugoslavia Falls! Bulgaria Joins the Axis!

Amidst cheering crowds, the Italian Army has liberated Belgrade. With the help of other Balkan countries, they are now working tirelessly to restore peace, order and the right to self determination in the former Yugoslavia.

bg-boris-hitler.jpg

After a cordial meeting with the Fuhrer, King Boris III has pledged his support to the Axis humanitarian effort in the Balkans.

Elsewhere, England licks her wounds in silence. Despite frantic attempts to drag the United States into her war, that country has declined the role of England's puppet.

There is great admiration and sympathy in the USA for the Reich's earnest striving for peace.

Mid-May 1941

"You are suspicious by nature, Molotov, which is why you are so valuable, but I believe this time you are totally wrong. I know how far I can trust the German and I tell you Hitler, despite that nonsense he wrote in his pathetic little book, will not turn on us. Why, he'd be a fool to do so. No, he wants to see the British destroyed for all time as much as we do, perhaps even more than we do. His next move will be against them, not us. You will see, I am right about him, Hitler is not a fool."

England Awaits

ww2_it29.jpg

With the situation in the Balkans stabilised, the Axis powers are now free to turn their attentions to the great manipulator - England!

eth1935.jpg

With the lust of battle in their eyes and singing as they march, the Italian Army has struck across the Libyan border, and is driving deep into Egypt.

Avanti!

Mid-June 1941

Italian Infantry photographed near Mersa Matruh, Egypt. Britain prepares to defend Alexandria and the Suez Canal.

italians%20walking%20in%20desert%20with%20sunhat.jpg

molotov-berlin.jpg

Soviet Envoy Molotov arrives in Berlin to discuss matters of grave urgency, such as the massing of German and other Axis troops in Eastern Europe and also to demand that, in leu of overdue payments for wheat and mineral shipments, Germany drive the British out of Bergen and transfer the port city to Soviet control while granging rail road rights to the city across Norway, Sweden and Finland. In response to which Hitler is said to have responded that Germany controls neither of those countries.

The meetings ended quickly and the Soviet representitive returned to Moscow. Rumors abound that German-Soviet relations are beginning to frey.

Today Declared "German - Soviet Friendship Day"

pacto2.JPG

A series of frank and friendly meetings in Berlin have further cemented the strong links between the Reich and the Soviet Union. In return for generous trade concessions of plentiful wheat from the Ukraine, Germany has agreed to lance the English abscess in Bergen.

A series of massive air attacks on Bergen have smashed the city's defences to dust.

fw190.jpg

Germany's new wonder fighter, the Focke-Wulf FW190, has been used in combat for the first time with great success.

ib3.jpg

On the ground, units under the command of General Dietl are advancing steadily through extremely mountainous terrain.

The Italian blitzkrieg in Africa continues, with forward elements now within 100 kilometres of Alexandria.

In accordance with it's Soviet agreement, Germany attack's Britain's tenuous North Sea Norwegian outposts with the combined stregnth of five luftflotte. But the Tommies dig in, determined to hold their Scandinavian defenses at all costs.

England Runs Away!

dhm_732_small.jpg

In the finest English tradition, Bergen has been evacuated in the face of advancing German mountain troops. Weeping with joy, the grateful population of Bergen have welcomed their liberators.

prop-ns-2.jpg

Norway is whole again!

Elsewhere in Scandinavia, German and Soviet intelligence have detected irrefutable proof of massive military preparations by the Swedish government.

The Reich has definite knowledge of a gigantic Swedish secret weapons programme being constructed in vast munitions complexes throughout the country.

ikea.jpg

Requests by the Germany and the USSR that these installations be dismantled have been met by increasingly fatuous replies from the Swedish government.

No one desires peace more than the Reich and the Soviet Union, but no one is more able to defend themselves if that peace is threatened.

General Rambo,

We're giving it our best against a Fabled Highlander. It promises to be a tough one with the real action only starting to develop.

Mid-July 1941

"With deep regret His Majesty's Government has been forced under overwhelming pressure to abandon our long standing outpost of Bergen on the North Sea. We vow to our Norwegian Allies, and those of Poland, France, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Greece and Yugoslavia that, regardless the cost and time in years, we shall once more be free and united in Victory."
