PipBoy
My trusty 60mm mortar guy is in a building, meaning he can't fire. Why then do I get a regular orange sticky target line? I was baffled for a few turns as to why I could target, but the little rat would never fire.
Michael Emrys
Maybe he was waiting for the building to be rubbled? [shrug] Michael
Kanonier Reichmann
A similar thread along these lines came up a while ago. Some smart alec suggested that the mortarman could fire the bombs up the stove pipe! Regards Jim R.
Binkie
I believe you can set a target for some units without the units having LOS. That way if you move them into LOS, or their target does it for them, they will open fire (although I think AFVs simply drop this target if it's not immediately in their LOS). So he'll be all set if you crawl him out a window. Perhaps the best use of this is with FOs...if you know where you want him to target, you can set that target while he is still out of LOS, run him to the spotting location, and he will start his artillery countdown immediately upon reaching it, rather than wait until you give him a new order at the start of the next turn. -Havermeyer-
you can put them just outside the building. arc, physics, trajectory no mattah. i killed a slew of halftracks (original game release version) with a little 81mm out of LOS and in C&C and RIGHT NEXT TO THE BUILDING. it was a beautiful thing.
