Col Deadmarsh
I'm hoping that we'll see a big improvement over the Commodore 64 flame graphics we have now. If any of you have been reading the game magazines lately, you are probably aware that there are a number of WWII shooters coming out which have made absolutely outstanding use of today's technology to create realistic looking flames--notably Wolfenstein and Red Faction. I'm hoping CM will at least come somewhat close to putting out something which looks that good.
Pvt. Ryan
JuJu's flame mod is rather nice, but I'm pretty sure the kind of effect you are talking about will have to wait for CMII (the engine re-write).
Count Sessine
LOL, I have to agree they look a little dated.
offtaskagain
Ryan, the flame effect I think he's talking about is the little pink streak occasionally emitted from a flamethrower unit.
The Commissar
I think the flame graphics in Wolfenstein (the multiplayer test of this game is a favorite past time of mine now) are particle based and are fairly high tech. I would imagine that it would take longer programming those graphics then plugging in half of the new graphics BTS is using in CMBB currently. Not only because such flame would require an engine rewrtie, but because making them look that swell takes a lot of time.
