Garbage to you... You read what you want, nobody oblige you to read anything. For #$#&"& postes I think this forum has moderators, and they decide what is garbaje and what is not.

I like this forum has it is... with many topics for me to chuse from... and a certain degree of freedom.

Nice work BTS moderators...

I would say that it is NOT a be all and end all matter.

The Boards that are up are great and CM is fantastic.

It's just that we started off with one board, that has split into the main board, tips & techniques, scenarios and tech support; so I guess at SOME stage, we'll get a CM2 board.

Sooner rather than later might be sensible to keep it all in one, easy to find place.

But, whatever. It's a great game, it's a great board, and the vast majority of people posting are just fine - some quite awe inspiring in their depth of knowledge!

My query is to BTS and I'm not interested in debating this. As I said, it's a genuine request for something CM2 only based without irrelevant topics. If you want to "have fun" then you'd still have this or another board for said "entertainment".

Here's my $.02:

If this was to BTS and not for debate, you probably shouldn't have posted it on a public forum, huh.

What's sad is I'm fairly new here, but I've enjoyed finding a game and community which I can be a part of and share my thoughts and experiences with. Sort of what a public forum is all about, isn't it? And as I grow more comfortable in this medium and more familiar with the BTS's product and this board, I find I'd like to be a part its future and perhaps part of the discussion involving its evolution.

But when you call the discussions on this board "crap", and irrelevant, you insult a larger number of people than you might think. It just makes me want to close down and not be a part of it.

Sure, there are going to be topics which do not interest you: Don't read them. Sure, there will be people that offend you: Don't read them, and don't egg them on. They'll go away.

But if you insult the non-hardcore-grogs... well it's rude and its bad business.

Thanks for the vent.

Von Fauster.... I posted to the board because BTS reads the board and responds on a very frequent basis to the postings. I also posted publicly because I know of many other people feel the same way I do...some of whom have mailed me directly confirming this rather than posting here because they refuse to post here any more.

Saying I'm not interested in debating this means "I'm not interested in debating this"! It means that I'm hoping BTS will consider the suggestion but that I'm not interested in debating the merits (or not) of my suggestion with anyone.

My intent is not to offend anyone and it's unfortunate that you took it that way. My saying that there is a lot of "crap" and "irrelevant" posts on this board is true from what I read but certainly doesn't mean or imply that all the posts are, or that all the people posting have nothing of value to offer.

Again, bottom line is that I'd like to see a CM2/eastern front board now which is separate from this one. That's it.

GhostOne,

I apparently misunderstood the tone of primary post, and acknowledge that you do in fact have some good points. I hope you will accept my apology.

I guess I got defensive because I am fairly new to this board, as are many people, and have read several posts bemoaning the change in this board since "the good 'ol days"- ie., it was better before all the new people showed up- and that they will be leaving: and I feel a little put-off by this.

The facts is that everyone was new here at one point in time; and CM is going to be an extremely popular game. There is going to be a lot of new blood here. I would rather the "old timers"- such as yourself- stick around and help us newbies to better understand CM and the wargaming world than run-off to some dark corner of the digital world, thereby excluding the fresh ideas and experiences which the widespead popularity of CM is sure to elicit.

That being said, I'm sure that the attentive contributions of people such as yourself to CM2 will only serve to make it a better game, and if having a seperate area to discuss the Eastern Front and its unique issues will help to foster those contributions, then I, albeit reluctantly, support your endeavor.

I simply hope that such an area will be more inclusive than exclusive in its moderation.

Sincerely,

Von Fauster

GhostOne, I will be shocked if there doesn't end up being a CM2 board in the future. But now is not the time. And here is why. I followed this board since it was at BTS' old site (that's a very long time ago) and there are two things about those times that I don't believe you are taking into consideration. First, and maybe most importantly, Steve and sometimes Charles were VERY active on the board back then. Right now they are WAY too busy getting me my TCP/IP,making patches, counting their money and (hopefully) taking a well deserved rest. Without their constant input the type of board there used to be cannot exist. It is just mental masturbation for the people that post to that type of board if their opinions aren't being considered the way they were during the creation of CM1. Secondly, during that time I lurked and never posted. Why? Because the level of discussion was so high I felt I had nothing to contribute so I kept my mouth (fingers) shut. Once the Beta version came out I was in a position where I felt I did have something to offer (besides my silly comments). Now that CM1 is finished and in our hands there is much less to talk about from a game development point of view so everyone is having fun and enjoying the game and the community we have all created. Some on topic posts, some silly fun posts, some hammerhead posts. When an official CM2 board is created I am confident that in that board all of us silly people will know how to behave because we remember how we behaved the first time around or heard about how it was and will want to be a part of it next time. To limit the people who can post or bounce people for an off topic comment or two or five would also remove what those people thrown out could contribute to the board in a positive way also.

Therefore, I believe you are dead wrong about everything except that at some point there should be a CM2 board.

Oh yeah...I just thought of a third thing...Remember.."You can never go home."

Beat me to it, Elvis. If BTS came to us and said, "Say, folks, we have this little problem with CM2 and we'd like to hear what you think about it, maybe we'll get some fresh input this way", I don't think you'd see too many hamster posts in that thread.
