  1. After playing battlefront games for 13 years, I'm not the least bit worried. I know if something needs fixin', it'll get fixed. Carry on!
  2. Same map. I wasn't able to get screens from the first time I had the QB problem.
  3. Salute! I've had a similar problem with two QBs. AI simply doesn't layout the opposing force. I've attached two files. "Layout" shows a tight cluster of German troops presumably where they started. The anti-tank guns in particular would have come in quite handy had they been deployed. The AI did sprinkle some light armor around the map, which made me think I had a real battle on my hands until after I cease-fired and looked at the results. The QB Map stats file shows the parameters for the map. As this is the second time this has happened to me, I'm naturally getting a little concerned. How do we fix this? Thanks!
  4. Yeah for Gustav Line! I've played the Sicily campaigns through twice now. Can't wait!
  5. No worries, I just like to play around with the screenshots (actually, I take a picture of the screen with my camera and mess with it from there).
  6. Thanks for the intel. At least I can stop looking for a key combo that isn't there!
  7. Howdy all, and Happy Turkey Day (though I prefer smoked ham) I checked the hotkeys and can't find a way to hide all of the HUD for screenshot purposes. Is there a way to do this? Thanks, and good hunting!
  8. On this Thanksgiving Day, I'm giving thanks to everyone at Battlefront for all the great hours of "fun" (though I probably take the welfare of my pTroopen too seriously to be "fun") they have brought me over the years, and especially for CMFI, which I just purchased recently. I'm not sure what it is, maybe the new CMx2 engine, but something about this game is seriously cool. I'm still trying to put my finger on it. Again, many thanks and keep up the great work. Salute!
  9. Voted for it, of course. I love all the CM games (and hadn't heard of the others anyway. I don't get out much....)
  10. SLR, I agree with the vast majority of your post. On this point (and I guess the FOO too) I would just like to toss out my experience and what I do. First, on a number of occasions, I have totally failed to see the scrim nets and been completely surprised. In the heat of battle at near ground level pushing forward they are easy to miss when located properly and one has the icons turned off. To help facilitate the FOO, I generally only allow myself a top-level flyover as though I were in a Storch doing recon or spotting. I feel this is a reasonable balance between FOO and tactical information. As an aside, many years ago, I was in a mech infantry division. We spent a great deal of time out in the field (downrange they called it). I use to hate putting those damn nets up everytime we stopped. It being a government operation, naturally the nets were green camo and the terrain was a light brown to red. We stuck out like sore thumbs. I can't tell you how many times I heard "Had this been an actual combat situation, you would be dead!" Keep up the fight mein herr! von Fauster
  11. I posted a reply on the "Will the new patch improve framerate" thread, but I probably should have posted it here because our systems are similar. Be sure to check it out, and be sure "ambient occlusions" is turned off in-game. Salute!
  12. I'm sure you guys have done like I did and tried all sorts of different settings, but I'll toss this out anyway. I've found the best frame rates for me by twinking my graphic card setting to forced 2x anti-alias, forced 2x filtering, closed down my 2nd screen and set card to single screen mode, closed all other processes and programs, etc. Then I turned off ambient occulsion in the game. Most everything else is set on high except water. Now it runs pretty dang smooth with the exception of when there are lots of planes on strafing runs. The biggest help seemed to come from turning off the ambient occulsions. Hope this helps some. 13. Thanks man. No, I was strictly cold war. Trained at Ft. Irwin for a spell for a potential war in the Mid East (like that would ever happen ;-) ), but I was out before the shooting started. Actually got to train against Op For's "B.M.P.s" and "Hinds" though. That was cool. At the time I was in, nearly all of our NCOs were former Nam grunts, so, as you might expect, I have a lot of respect for fellas that were in country. Peace, Ed
  14. Wow fellas. I knew the Panther (and the Tiger for that matter) suffered from the often-mentioned "teething troubles", but I had no idea it was that severe and widespread. Deputy: I know we got off on the wrong foot, but I just want to say "Thank-you" for your service to our country. I hold our vets in nothing but the highest regard and your sacrifice for our country is truly appreciated. Salute!
  15. Narses, that's some awesome information. Thanks so much for sharing. As an aside, do you think 10th Pz Panther losses were mostly combat related or mechanical in nature? BTW: I served with the 4th Infantry in the '80s driving M113A2s. Salute! :-)
