Jagdpanther
All this in the news these days about the Russian submarine 'Kursk' being all but lost at sea has made me chuckle over one point. Here is my theory on it. I believe the ghost of a German submariner became offended over the Russian sub's name and pushed an old WWII era mine into it. That aught to teach 'em. Gentleman
It seems there may be a reason why some people are listed as "Junior" members. Sorry to sound self pious Jagdpanther, but this is a subject where humour is misplaced.
ntg84
I read that the thing might have hit a WW2 mine put there by the Russians.
Noba
Apparently the explosion was detected somewhere in UK / Scotland. About 3.something on the Richter scale. Also heard may be Torpedo launch gone wrong ?? Any more on these?

Airborne
I guess I miss the humour here or why this post would be appreciated--by any members of this forum (esp the vets)...
howardb
People are dead down there Jagdpanther. If it was one of your family down there it wouldn't been so funny now would it? This board attracts people from all over the world, including Russians.
patboivin
The Janes web site says there is a gash going from the front of the sub right to the crew compartments. The only part that may have escaped damage is the aft crew compartment, they are trying to reach it now. The front part was flooded right after the blast, so everyone in the front of the sub is gone. www.janes.com If there are any people left in the back, they must have a major case of claustrophobia right now, it must feel like a coffin in there. They don't know what caused the two explosions.
