caralampio
I'm playing a scenario at Cheneux as the American, I have to attack through light terrain (mostly hedges) the German is in woods, buildings, foxholes etc. When my guys get shaken, broken, etc. they run TOWARDS the enemy (seeking "the best cover", no doubt, too bad they are enemy occupied positions), and they get creamed. Entire platoons dead in a few seconds. Is there some way to prevent this behavior? Caralampio
Doug Beman
What version are you on? Everything pre-1.1 had a known bug which caused infantry to run toward the nearest cover, regardless of whether they were running toward the enemy or away. 1.1 has fixed this; infantry will seek best combo of cover&distance from enemy. Polar
Why did they fix it??? Now they'll just have to break it again to model Japanese Banzai troops! ;^) Joe
Doug Beman
Actually, not really a bug. Infantry in pre-1.1 were coded to "seek closest cover ASAP" and they did this perfectly. It just wasn't figured that closest cover could often be where the enemy is, resulting in a Light Brigade charge. DjB
caralampio
So that's the problem. I have 1.05. I shun beta software, so I'll have to wait until all the bugs of 1.1 are ironed out. Meanwhile, my brokies will merrily charge the enemy! caralampio
Pak40
The Beta 1.1 is much better than the official 1.05. I highly recommend you download it. You can still run both versions of the game.
