NPS - Kharkiv Outskirts - 4KM x 4KM

Recommended Posts

As part of our in-house campaign, Near Peer Simulations is designing CM maps from real world locations, sat imagery, topographical data and refining the final steps for our in-house process for coverting RGB into CSV formats to then utilize as editor overlays displaying raw elevation numbers relative to 8 meter grids.

This is the result. Currently it is for Professional Edition, with work ongoing for a Black Sea public release. This will be the official thread when that release is available. Attached are screenshots showing the terrain as well as the QB Maps for open source. If you have Professional Edition, it is a plug and play. If you wish to help crack the conversion you may download the files and give it a go.

Part of what we do is ensure that all content that can be utilized in the publicly available titles, will be free of charge and released with no strings attached. You may edit as your heart desires.

Lool nevermind I got it to work in CMRT. I love hexedit.

Very basic map but thanks for this.

BTW all my roofs are missing! What the hell CM:PE? Custom roofs? Blasphemy.

Awesome! I could never get it to work and neither could people I know. Would you mind sending me the file you use in CMRT? I'd like to give it a look.

Here is the file:

All I did was change these two values here:

NPS.png.e5036cb68d9e0387eac6fdc0ca2c5725.png

the original 10 indicates the game, and the 9D indicated some sort of requirement. All commercial games are 9A and 9B. I didn't see 9C when I was briefly looking around but it probably exists somewhere too.

BTW, this trick works in reverse. So you should have a good chance at porting maps from CMBS, CMRT, CMCW into CM:Pro. You only have to change those two values unless it's a map locked by a module purchase (Which are the best official maps for CM). In that case there is a workaround in the Official Map Conversion thread located in the same subforum as this topic (Or just google it).

@Rooks And Kings I see you are having trouble converting to other games. All you have to do is:

1) Go to hexed.it (A website)

2) Open the file NPS_Kharkiv (Most maps from CM:BN, CM:RT, CM:BS, CM:FB, CM:CW should work too, if you want to convert TO CM:PE)

3) The first value on the second line (The left red circle in the first image I posted above) indicates the game that the map will be played on. You must change it to the appropriate value:

(CM:SF = 00, CM:A = 02, CM:BN = 04, CM:FI = 06, CM:RT = 08, CM:PE = 10, CM:CW = 12, CM:BS = 0A, CM:FB = 0C).

4) Change the 9D (This is particular to CM:PE only) to 9A or 9B (I don't think there's a major difference, if any)

5) Click export and place it in your game folders.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Feel free to check out the unofficial map conversion thread to grasp a deeper understanding of converting maps, along with some tricks for more stubborn maps.

With this trick you can make your game 10x more fun by adding hundreds of new maps.
