alogie
Hi everyone! I use the HQS mods on all of my CM games and it seems to me that the start up of the game is much slower when I'm using the mods. It's almost like the game hangs for several seconds. All of the games are installed on an SSD. Is this something that everyone is seeing or am I perhaps doing something incorrectly? Not a showstopper by any means, but it woud be nice to be able to have the games start up more quickly, Thanks, Alistair
Erwin
Yes, the more mods, the slower the loading, even with an SSD. IIRC there is a built-in limit to how quickly the game will load or run due to its old tech - regardless of how powerful or fast one's computer and its components may be.
alogie
OK. Thanks for the info. Back when I had my first computer I had to load from cassette so I suppose I can't really complain.
Redwolf
One could try to package the entire HQS set into one brz. That would help. Especially if you re-package the base game brzs to not contain the same sounds. Right now you are loading almost all sounds twice.
alogie
Interesting. Would that kind of tweaking need to be re-done if a patch is released?

It's more of a puzzle challenge than useful optimization.
