How to order Advancing fire/Walking fire/Short stop shooting?

Recommended Posts

Hunt order seems to remove the order immediately as the unit engages a target, if this happens early into a turn, it is very bad for keeping up any advance at all. The engine manual says seems to imply that basically all but the Hunt movement order is intended for maneuver only, and is not intended for, or reducecs the priority, or engaging any targets. How do I order a unit to advance at a moderate pace while firing at enemies? Or more useful for tanks, advance and make 5-10 second short stops to engage any targets.

Many ways to do this depending on the circumstances.  You could give the tank a Move or Slow movement order with a 10 second Pause order every 40 meters (or whatever distance you thought was appropriate).  You could also give a different area Target order from every waypoint.  Or let the tanks choose there own targets.  Or a combination.

The tanks will shoot on the move, even in the WW2 titles.  Give them an area fire order (or multiple orders) at a distant target and a Quick movement order and they'll run and gun to the destination you set.

Assault. With a clear line of sight the squad will retain teams on overwatch and they will fire at an ordered or spotted target when not moving.

Infantry will in fact, engage targets and move at the same time though, it's just that the range they can be expected to do this at is 50m, not 500m...

For tanks, just plot slow points w/5-10 second pause to fire at targets you've designated from each point.
