Black Five Posted December 22, 2000 Share Posted December 22, 2000 After searching around and failing to find anything definitive I would like to throw out a question: What two tanks would be considered equal in a tank pure platoon on platoon fight? With respect to armor effectiveness, MG effectiveness, speed, turret speed, ROF, etc. Since terrain can also make a huge difference let's just consider the tanks meeting in a moderately hilly/wooded environment. Also if anyone cares to comment on which tanks would be equal in a tank pure MOUT environment that would be of interest as well. Thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Marlow Posted December 22, 2000 Share Posted December 22, 2000 I think about the most even fight would be Mark IV vs. Sherman M4 or M4A1 Both main guns have little problem with the other tank's armor. The Sherman's turret is faster, but the Mark IV has a smaller profile, and IIRC is better at long range. I know that perhaps the panthers might have the edge but there would be 5 against 4 and an experienced sherman crew can be deadly. Any body for a TCP/IP?
