I read a Japanese comics (translated) about Wittman but I am not sure if his Pz VIE was a late production model. "Panzer in Normandy: Then and Now" does not help. Thanks in adv. Griffin. Only the 3rd Company of s-SS-PzAbt 101 had the medium production modells, if my memory doesn´t fail me. All other and the staff tanks were steel rimmed versions build after March 1944. However, additionally to the Jentz books on the Tiger I, I strongly recommend "Tiger in Combat I & II" by Wolfgang Schneider and "Michael Wittmann and the Tiger Commanders of LSSAH" by Patrick Agte. Tons of data/pics and first hand accounts. Quite expensive but usually seen as the reference.
