smackawits
I have read manual, but still cannot figure out how to use carriers. For instance, how do you stay where you are and still send out attack aircraft?
Bill101
Hi If you have your Carrier selected, hover the mouse over a target and left click on that target, then the Carriers will launch a strike against it. Be sure to be in the right Carrier mode before moving or attacking. If you just want to make (say) a Fighter attack against a sea tile, in order to reconnoitre, then hold down the Shift button on your keyboard before attacking. smackawits
I am totally confused by the carrier and fighter settings and I do not find the manual helpful. Can you explain the settings and what they do? Thanks.
Bill101
Sure, here we go: Fighter (CAP) - means that your Carrier is sending up fighters for aerial combat when it launches strikes. Also in this mode its fighters can intercept enemy air strikes, or escort friendly ones. Naval/Tactical - means that your Carrier is sending out bombers when it launches strikes. Mixed Mode - means that the Carrier deploys a mixture of fighters and bombers. If engaging in aerial combat it fights less well than if using Fighter (CAP) mode, and likewise in comparison with Naval/Tactical. But this can be advantageous because if you launch a strike in Naval/Tactical mode and it is intercepted and has no escorts, it can suffer heavily. It will suffer less if that happens when in Mixed Mode.
smackawits
thanks for your replies.....how do I get a carrier to stay still (not have to move the ship) and send out fighters or bombers? Do the fighters and bombers have the same characteristics as fighters and bombers do on land (do they move the same number of action points, for example)? Are the bombers long range or tactical bombers? Edited September 19, 2016 by smackawits
Bill101
No problem. If you want to attack without moving the Carrier, hold down the Shift button on your keyboard before attacking. The Carriers have their own characteristics, and these can be compared by reviewing their right click -> Properties screen with that of Fighters and other air units. In terms of bombers, they are more akin to Tactical Bombers.
smackawits
sometimes I can move the carrier, but then cannot attack! Very frustrating......how do I correct?
Bill101
You cannot attack in rough seas or rain, could that be the reason?
smackawits
Still having trouble, which is ruining the scenario for me. I can either move carriers, but cannot launch plane attacks after carrier movement and/or I cannot have planes attack without moving the carriers. This makes all the carriers all but useless to me while I get my troops get savaged by the enemies carriers. PLEASE........................somebody give me some help or tell me where to go in the manual so I can get this corrected. PLEASE!
Will95
Are you sure you're not in rough seas (sea tiles will have some squiggly lines)? It's sometimes hard to tell, especially if you're zoomed out. Look near coastlines as they usually have calm waters and you'll see the difference. Bill101
Left click to select the Carrier. Left click on where you want to move it to. Left click on a target. Release the mouse button.
