DS Phelps
Anybody know if the "crawl" command is more sneaky than "sneak?" I was wondering if it would allow me to get even closer to my objective without being seen than sneak will. If not, what is the main purpose of "crawl?" To take on less incoming fire?
Sequoia
My experience is that crawl is even sneakier than sneak, but still no guarantee you won't be spotted, especially in open terrain. On the flip side of this, crawling units don't spot enemy units as well either.
tar
There are a couple of other differences. Crawl should give you more protection from incoming fire. It is slower and more exhausting for the men. Sneak causes your men to stop moving when they see enemy soldiers. In that regard it has a bit of the "Move to Contact" that was added later in CMBB & CMAK.
Skolman
Hey tar, that sneak caused my men to stop when the see enemy soldiers was new to me ! I´ll try that on the next battle! You´ll never stop learning, Skolman
tar
A quick glance at the manual indicates that units with Sneak orders stop and take cover "when engaged by the enemy". So that may mean they need to be shot at instead of just spotting the bad guys. I guess it is different in that regard from the later "Move to Contact" order.
