Euri
What is the engagement range of the Russian tank main gun? I have not been able to locate it in the manual - although, probably, it must be in there somewhere
panzersaurkrautwerfer
Depends a lot on round employed in terms of mechanically how far the cannon can reliably hit a target. To this end given something to shoot, the 2A46 can reliably strike targets well past most in-game ranges. Additionally efficiency of the round will very depending on round and target. However the more relevant limitation on Russian tank engagements is the optics system, and in that regard there will be some very real, and very "fuzzy" limitations on how far the 2A46 can strike. With that said we used to be taught that 90's vintage Russian tanks had a max effective range around 2500 meters, with the goal being to roughly handle the Russians before they got to that point.
VladimirTarasov
What Panzer said, Although now the newer optics are on the tanks in game which should increase engagement ranges more then 2.5KM. Also the GLATM can hit reliably up to 5 KM although it takes a while to reach the target it would be more effective then shooting a APFSDS at a tank from 5 KM, Taking out optics or the gun or what ever. I know of HE shots up to 4 KM.

MikeyD
With the weapons in the game the engagement rage appears to be more dependent on terrain obstacles than weapon performance. I recall long ago a NATO report saying engagement ranges in western Europe rarely exceeded 1.5km. There's always going to be an intervening tree line or village cluster. Sure, occasionally you might get to fire your weapon down the full length of a river valley. But that's hardly 'typical'.
