AttorneyAtWar
I still play the original Tomb Raider in Dos Box on my Windows 7 PC, look up a guide on how to get old games like that to run on new machines, only in rare cases is it impossible to do so.

StieliAlpha
Maybe the answer comes a little late, but for me the "compatibilty mode" works just fine in Win 8.1.If I recall right: right click on the games exe.file and select the Windows version under which it originally worked. When you start the game next time, windows will (sort off) switch to that version. I.e., for the game only, of course. That saved my old Mech Commander 2 from extinction.
