user1000
When you select a hide selection on a tank, you can either do it with the tank unbuttoned or buttoned. I assume they are hiding inside their tank with vision slits and hatches closed. Is this true? And.. A. What is the difference between the two modes? DEB8
Strangely, the rules ( CM2 : under Appendix B - Orders, Special orders , Hide/Unhide ) say that this represents ( the vehicle ) keeping it's engine idle ( and does NOT represent the crew hiding inside the tank) ! I guess a quieter Tank is harder to spot if in ( say ) a Wood !! [ It also notes that trying to hide a Tiger Tank in an open field is not a good idea ! }

What I vaguely recall is that may also reduce the crew's spotting ability, but am not sure about that. Hiding certainly reduces the spotting ability of leg units.
