(Apocalypse Now reference) Did you know Beethoven's 9th Symphony was "Italian-ized" by Mussolini's order and played at his rally's. Also it was a tradition to play it for the Japanese Kamikaze Pilots during the Sake ceremony before take off. This symphony is based on "Ode to Joy", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785. He wrote the poem as a enthusiastic celebration of the brotherhood and unity of all mankind. It is now the national anthem of the European Union.
